, who had their partnership with the league terminated following the 2025 season.
Gentle Mates was selected through a competitive application process in which nine teams were considered for the vacant slot. The teams were evaluated using similar criteria to those used to select the original 10 teams for the league, some of which include “community resonance and ability to generate fandom”, "competitive plans and player support systems”, and “operational readiness”. Of the nine applicants, Gentle Mates scored the highest based on the criteria, and was thus selected to join the league.
With the major changes coming to the whole of the VCT ahead of the 2027 season, Gentle Mates are currently only on a one year partnership agreement. Following the 2026 season, they, alongside every other partnership team, will be re-evaluated for the next season.
Winning EMEA Ascension in 2023, Gentle Mates has been a part of VCT EMEA for the past two years. In those two years, they have struggled to make a splash in the league. Despite multiple major roster restructurings and signing big names from tier two, Gentle Mates have never found themselves in the playoffs of any stage. Their most recent performance in Stage 2 saw them go winless, ending with a 0-5 record.
