they won fair and square. sure they got to face secret and then scream+nivera's tl, but it wasnt like gambit wasnt good, acend was just better in the final.

prx toronto was def not fluke, stage 1 was kinda weird but they beat a whole bunch of good teams (except th lmao) to get there, including g2, sen, tl and fnc
edg seoul couldnt have been less of a fluke, they were at champs first of all with no advantage for anybody, as well as beating a strong g2, masters 1 winners sen, lev on a miracle run, and a close series against th in the final. zmjjkk deserves to be in the goat convo even after only winning 1 tourney

real talk, after th lost today ive been thinking abt how and why they lost. they seem to have a lot of firepower inconsistencies, which i think is caused by their emotional state, and how its very dependent on if theyre winning. i personally dont think they need a hypeman, their comms and dynamic shows that theyre all super hype all the time. what i think they need is a rock. someone who wont tilt if hes losing. their two best players are both inis (woot is also duelist), so an ini wont help if you dont want to risk a downgrade. since i feel like miniboo and boo wont play alone (without the other), or will be affected by playing alone, that leaves benjy (if you dont want to lose 2 players which i dont think they need). benjy has always been inconsistent, i think hes a good candidate for replacement. so who would be his replacement, you might ask? (might not but whatever).
nats. it theoretically doesnt have to be nats himself, just someone like him, but hes the ideal candidate. someone whos very consistent (excluding like 1 game in groups) in his shooting to back up riens and woot, a seasoned veteran who wont crack under pressure, and someone for the others to rely on. sure they have boo, but th 23 were shit so he didnt have intl stage presence vehind him. pretty obviously, nats does. from looking at team liquid, hes pretty good at keeping his team level-headed, and has good experience in managing explosive, emotional young talent (such as kamo, pati and keiko), a skill transferable to th. last but not least, hes an igl. tho i think pati is igling now (maybe, i forgot ngl), nats is an igl in his own right. even if he doesnt want to be the main igl, he could still help boo and take some weight off his shoulders. the reason why boo is so good in the clutch usually is because he doesnt have to call anyone and just can focus on himself. with nats, he could have backup calling, or the main igl could switch and boo could be nats’ second. i feel like his playing is good enough when he doesnt have to igl to stay on the team (obviously very hypothetical). miniboo is good enough to stay as is, especially with another aimer on the team. the roster would ideally be as follows:
miniboo - duelist
woot - duelist/ini/chamber
riens - ini
boo - ctrlr
nats (igl) - senti/viper
this also fixes their woot viper problem. also for everyone saying money, they have saudi blood money, theyre fine.

gl to prx in their next games, they played pretty well today so itll be good to see them play again
tldr placement at champs isnt too bad, maybe 1 change is needed but not much
same ngl. its really annoying to lose in this way, but getting 5th/6th at champs after the earlier results (kickoff, toronto) is pretty damn good, no matter what. it means youre better than 42/43 teams (out of 48) in vct at the end of the year. def not a bad enough champs placement to blow up the roster. possible to maybe give up one player (ex maybe benjy but hes sometimes good) but i dont think they need to. theyve proven they can compete at the international level during champs (and ewc ig) and can continue as such.
