I've been a huge fan of Serial this year, but I will be the first to admit Liquid was the wrong place for him. Signing a sentinel player when you have nats on your roster is just begging for trouble. When Serial was on sentinel he looked solid, but his flex left a lot to be desired. I would much prefer seeing Serial playing sentinel on a middle-of-the-road team where he can shine.

Yeah, I agree it's a good idea. Not sure if it'll fix the whole problem, but a good start.

I think he still sees a lot of use in pro play, because he's not played for his smokes specifically. It's really the paranoia that puts Omen ahead of the rest of the controller class, and I don't think tuning down his smokes will change all that much.

Harbor needs a fix 100% yes.

Astra tho? Astra's been very serviceable both in pro and ranked play, I fear more Astra buffs would just lead to her being out of control.
Clove can't be buffed without becoming a beast in ranked, so Clove would need a complete rework and probably lose her agent identity.

Some fascinating stats about omen:

Omen was the most picked agent at Masters Toronto, with a whopping 82% pickrate. Worth keeping in mind that this is higher than

  • Jett at Reykjavík 2021
  • Chamber at Copenhagen 2022
  • Killjoy through all of 2023
  • Viper at Madrid 2024

In fact, the only agent who has ever had a pickrate greater than Omen at Toronto across all international events is Jett at 86% during Masters Berlin. Clearly, at the pro level, Omen is absolutely disgusting at requires a nerf (though it is worth noting that the present map pool heavily favours omen, with Fracture, Bind, and Breeze all being out atm). However, it's also worth noting that Omen is one of the worst agents in ranked consistently. He currently has a 47.3% winrate, only above the likes of Harbor, Waylay, and KA/YO.

With that in mind, how does one balance Omen? The obvious answer is that his skill floor should be raised and his ceiling lowered, but how exactly would Riot go about that? Or is Omen just the anti-clove, where you're only supposed to use him in pro play but in ranked he's not great?
