His lack of height isn't a problem. He has the second height vert on his team. Him being the worse on the team let alone "constantly" the worse is legit just objectively false lol. He is underrated by people because of his height by season 3 people who underrate him are narratively just treated like a joke by those around who KNOW how good he is. Idk what you mean by "any" training camp considering there was only two. Which the youth training camp that literally only a handful of the best players made it to and the second was Miyagi prefecture which only 1 of his teammates was invited to anyways so that's still rather exclusive? Which mind you was literally specified to be only because Washijo himself when he was younger was also short and essentially just doesn't want to accept that Hinata achieved what he couldn't and quite literally beat his team lol. So Hinata would have been invited if not for this grudge and that's with admittedly being mediocre in terms of skill. His biggest weakness is that he does severely lack fundamentals because his middle school didn't have a club. He rides purely off of his raw talent. Which is why the idea that he's a loser is very ironic as he's pretty much the exact opposite. His fundamentals suck but he's just that talented and was good enough for this training camp even with these lackluster fundamentals.

you could argue Hinata somewhat fits 1 because of his demeanor and smallness but he's like a physical monster and his athelics are complimented since the beginning of the series. He was literally the only stand-out player on his first team and an amazing talent, so he doesnt qualify as a loser at all at least not to me

Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans - good introduction to gundam i'd say it includes child soldiering etc or gundam 00

the old gundams are pretty dark too and shows both sides of the war, but sometimes it is hard to watch because of old animation but its worth watching.

If not mechas, Vinland Saga is up there, worth watching as well.
