what country has the best music
genuine if you dont say US you are dumb (maybe UK)
if you say Japan instead you're def 300+ pounds
How US could have the best music ? They are responsible for destruction of the music industries, they are legit top bottom
I'm not a huge anime watcher, I have probably saw way more better US series than JP series (I think US series clears anime, even if they are both in good), and I can assure you that they are no way US music clear Japan (And they are no anime OST that I would rate high)
Edit : If you are taking the 20 lasts years, if you go before 2000 I agree US UK clears (I'm a fan of Kate Bush, or Jamiroquai afterall !)
i believe the irish flag originated earlier
both the flags have the same concepts though
both got fucked by britain
I could agree too if we stop overrating punjabi songs and rap which are a total shitshow
brazil (obviously id would've of said that), south korea, japan, usa, mexico and some european songs i cant specificly say where they're from
radiohead, fleetwood mac, pink floyd, oasis and the beatles (if youre an oldie), arctic monkeys, the killers from the top of my head for huge megahit bands with global impact
nah UK rap is dogshit. UK rock and alternative is pretty decent, but the whole UK music scene as a whole has been slacking recently
So many good UK bands and artists coming through at the moment, some for you to check out from my favs
Geordie Greep (formerly black midi)
Maruja
King Krule
Panchiko
Black Country New Road
You think most of these are famous because of "their quality" and not music industry being held on these places. Before 2010's, what was played on radios was the things the record labels sent to the radios.
Soft power and colonization, the same thing that US is having right now with that trash kpop
You are fully right bro, I was gonna write a whole paragraph about how the answer is just gonna be whatever music played in the radio when you were a kid. Nowadays people growing up with kpop slop from Twitter and TikTok influence so people putting that high up there.
Hate to say it but the killers are American which sounds crazy ik (and I'm British and was convinced they were)
Rolling stones, black Sabbath, smiths, queen, genesis, def leopard, Depeche mode, so many huge bands back then were brits
bro sybau majority of the most talented musicians ever are all north american
lmk when another place produces kendrick kanye michael jackson the eagles
UK is #2 tho, then theres a gigantic gap between everyone else
eagles sneak
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Radiohead
David Bowie
Queen
The Rolling Stones
Fleetwood Mac
Iron Maiden
Oasis
Black Sabbath
The Smiths
Joy Division
Sade
King Crimson
Amy Winehouse
Jimi Hendrix
Fucking One Direction and Ed Sheeran are/were huge (and influential)
i love all of these but get serious michael jackson and kanye are more talented than all
and i do agree one direction and ed are huge same with adele and stuff but north american musicians just clear bro
NONE OF THESE PEOPLE CAN MAKE GRADUATION OR THRILLER
While musical taste is inherently subjective and varies greatly across cultures, Taiwan undeniably stands out as one of the countries with the most vibrant and influential music scenes in Asia. Its rich blend of traditional elements and modern innovation has given rise to globally respected Mandopop artists, experimental genres, and a thriving independent music culture. From the poetic lyricism of ballads to the energy of contemporary pop and indie sounds, Taiwan consistently showcases an impressive depth of artistry that resonates both regionally and internationally.
im sorry but i legit dont know any taiwanese artists besides mc hotdog 😭😭😭
Don't hesitate to gives example, we westerner (I'm definitely not chinese, people spread misinformation) doesnt have a lot of knowledge about Taiwan music
Japan but than again this question is impossible to answer because it’s extremely subjective no such thing as answering this question objectively
From my experiences
African experimentals
Brazilian Bossa Novas
Japanese City Pop and Vaporvawe
German Psytrance
West Coast Hip Hop
Turkish Rock (Anatolia Rock)
Honestly you can find good metal music everywhere
Arabic Folk Music
Jazz is also a genre you can find anywhere but usually the best ones come from Japan)USA/Or Mediterranean countries
There are shit ton of stuff that ive probably missed but these are the stuff i can remember so hope its good for you
in basic terms, its traditional turkish music + rock
i dont really know what to compare it to but i can say the "rock" feeling of it is something between like progressive/psychedelic rock and folk rock
Barış Manço - https://youtu.be/jxi17F3z0Xw?si=iWMJStHE8Mu4dtk4
Cem Karaca - https://youtu.be/3QwkB28QuKk?si=eGfLR-Jvf3ffn59A
Erkin Koray - https://youtu.be/_u__X80_ePE?si=COIQXVKBj7s6PMXZ
these guys are like the founders of this genre still being listened and loved to this day. You can compare these guys to someone like Bob Dylan or Beatles with more Turkish elements and I think Barış Manço(prob the father of this genre) even to this day has a sizeable amount of a fanbase in Japan
Model - https://youtu.be/l1QLCTdMwK4?si=lhL5Up018uEHCXHM (music video had non song parts so i put this)
Mor ve Ötesi - https://youtu.be/A__hliu_9UE?si=au7kpY-a_02i76g2 (Eurovision song)
MaNga - https://youtu.be/HB_GnnhNz-8?si=2iXufLrC1YMbK7Hi (Another Eurovision song)
Şebnem Ferah - https://youtu.be/26rvrza_Gmg?si=IZNckUMtETwSHpnQ
Duman - https://youtu.be/6MecA5eYAqE?si=gf3FePHieIRmAyg_ (Prob the best one)
these guys/groups are the modern iteration of Anatolian Rock and possibly the biggest groups after popstars in Turkey but i dont really know what to compare these guys to i feel like theyre unique
Overall im not really good at describing the music but i can give you nice examples like Brazilian Bossa Nova or these links that have banger songs imo
too much instruments, sometimes a 2 - 4 instruments are enough butt most japaneese music has to much shit going on in the instrumental
Today the biggest songwriter in Japan is by far Zun (I dont know how he is doing but on Osu championship he always manage to have 5 of his music in the mapool without nobody notice it. Osu is probably the biggest metric to pick since it's basically a game for Japanese music fan), he made hit from 1998 to knoweadays and still makes bangers. He doesnt have a lot of instrument, and allow anyone to cover it (The cover are more known than the prime material), it allow many variations of his musical theme from metal to philharmonic orchestra, and i can assure you they are not too mush instrument
I agree for 21st century Japan, but all time USA ?
Debatable for the 20 century (I think UK might clear, but not sure, US also gives us a lot of things), but beyond that best where probably european
IN ORDER IMO(FROM WHAT I HEARD):
1.USA
2.KOREA
3.UK
4.SPANISH(INCLU ALL SPANISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES)
5.INDIA
6.JAPAN
7.BRAZIL
8.SOUTH AFRICA
people only say usa because of quantity and the fact its in english because its not the best
why are so many people saying Japan? apart from old city pop, whats so special about it? (I listen to a fair bit of music from Japan)
300+ pound syndrome for dudes is that you obsess over everything with japanese label
you're right though old city pop like remember summer days is gas
I don’t think anime is the biggest if you go outside of anime there are some clean music in Japan and yes I am talking about old songs as well
If I had to guess it might be because of J-Rock, which is unique because most countries by now have pop as their dominant genre. Also, you got some really talented solo artists like Fujii Kaze, or Ado, or Yorushika.
for me its niche electronic music but im pretty sure most people are saying japan due to vocaloid
I think Japan will be really high, when we will study music in school music they are way more chance people will study Zun or Maretu or even Kikuo piano sheet, than Kayne or anything us rapper. What do you think music teacher will teach to their student, a dumb rapper song about girl gun and money, or the best Zun music played by the philharmonic orchestra of active neets ? If you have any westerners recent music played by philharmonic orchestra please send it under this comment I'd love to see them.
I think they are way mush under radar music that are know only by people of their country that way more chance to survive the time to the horrible industrial music comming from the US. In France some singer-songwriter are really talented and creative, other are not, and you haveway more chance to know the latter. I bet none of you know Stromae or Orelsan, but I don't see anyone in France say "Daft Punk clear thoose guys" (That you probably know), and I'm pretty sure it's the same for Spanish, they probably have a hundred of amazing talents way better than the guy that made Despacito.
We should make our own "Eurovision", our "vlrvision", everyone should post 3 music of the artist that are from their country/language that they believe that the best one, and we vote
canada with my goats good kid!
but uk, us, and australia are good shouts too.
UK purely because of their shoegaze era
Slowdive Cocteau twins my bloody valentine etc
chinese music very underrated ngl
especially rapper like lexie liu is goated af
not to mention the traditional music is very good for healing and my sleeping, the guzheng instrument is just chef's kiss to listen
Jrock is so good. I don't like jpop much tho. Tbh I don't really listen to music so can't really say but I used to love j rock at one point.
japan, which im saying mainly because of niche music communities im in, also maybe Bulgaria but the electronic scene isnt very developed
https://youtu.be/U0fTYIL5IvQ?si=8hYIQoIs-nsGUT76 one of my fav examples
