When it comes to athletics USA is bound to be better than a lot of countries purely due to the composition of its demographics, and let's not even mention how much better their facilities are in comparison to many places around the world.
yeah i wanted to say this without putting the US athletes down. they have access to so much more than other countries, and their success in the olympics makes the US look powerful and dominant but that isnt because the most talented people are in the US. it simply means that talent is more likely to be found and cultivated in the US compared to other countries.
I alway thought that giving people titles like "fastest in the world" or whatever isn't entirely accurate as there could be some kid in Africa who had far greater potential, we'll just never know. "Fastest we know of", sure.
If that kid isn’t faster than the olympic champ, then they aren’t the fastest in the world. Potential can’t be quantified and your point is meaningless
You're not entirely wrong but that essentially applies to basically everything when it comes to competition at the highest level. There could be some youth/youths that, if given proper resources, would be the greatest ever seen to the current date in X, Y, or Z sport/esport/activity but will never get that opportunity because of the circumstances they were born into.

Doing well has less to do with your people and more to do with how economically powerful your nation is.
