first pred in? Interesting map veto to predict. TH perma-ban corrode, while G2 don't have a perma-ban, but most frequently ban either sunset or corrode (though they have looked stronger with leaf on sunset, would be curious to see leaf on corrode). G2 was very good on abyss before the tejo meta (never played tejo, put trent on sova), but TH have gotten dog-walked the three times they played it that I could find this year (13-4 by m8, 13-1 by vit, 13-4 by tl). I think we'll have an interesting situation where neither team wants to pick corrode or ban it.

I haven't seen th rely on sunset lately. they might pick abyss while banning corrode. decider should be lotus
th picking abyss would be stupid. They've been dogwalked 100% of the time they played on it, and they frankly look idea-less, while g2 looked good. I don't think they'll be working hard on it. I highly doubt either team will want to ban corrode, it's a game of chicken, but I think they both acknowledge neither team will pick it either.
Their abyss has been ass this year but they literally looked traumatised on it, last year it was good and since getting over some of their mental blocks I imagine th will be better on it now, wouldn't be surprised if we get it.
i mean their worst abyss game at champs last year was 13-5 vs DRX who were clearly the best abyss team itw at the time, it wasnt their best map but close games vs fpx, geng, fnc, sen, lev, edg show they clearly werent dog shit at it, then kickoff roles around they lose 13-4 13-1 13-4 to M8 VIT TL, either you think M8 are a better abyss team than DRX last year or TH were worse on abyss during kickoff than they were during champs last year
yeah but you don't get over a mental block of playing on abyss by... not playing it for the entire year besides for getting dogwalked 3 times

Decider would likely be Abyss because G2 will definitely ban Sunset and TH will be the one to ban Corrode.
TH WILL ban abyss, they have a mental block from champs gf 24, and you don't get over it that easily after getting demolished 3 times in kickoff
g2 is VERY good on abyss, highly doubt they would ban abyss (remember early season, plus they didn't use tejo on it)
Agreed that they have very similar map pools. However, g2 has shown willingness to play sage-chamber on corrode, so I think they would instead ban haven, since they DON'T like haven (they never pick it) but they don't dislike it per se either. So I have:
Th ban abyss
g2 ban haven
th pick sunset, g2 pick lotus (I was not convinced by th's lotus)
Which leaves corrode, sunset, ascent. I think whatever way the bans go (who bans corrode/sunset), ascent will remain, since both teams love to play ascent.

If trent returns to form (aka before stage 2 playoffs (reg season + toronto)) and leaf continues his performances I think g2 have great chances. However, trent's been struggling recently and dropping like negative stats (still second highest rated player of vct which is crazy), and leaf's obviously still a bit rusty. I'm hopeful, because beating th means 1st or 3rd and honestly like i have lost faith in winning a trophy this year so we might as well go 2nd-4th-3rd

Veto gives them Ascent, with Haven as Heretics’ best shot. Heretics got LAN experience and prep, but they’ve looked shaky lately and avoid Sunset, which might just be a comfy decider for G2. If G2 don’t troll early rounds and lock down post-plants, this feels like a clean 2-0 or chill 2-1.
Heretics need a banger Haven and something wild on Abyss. Still feels G2-favored overall.
i actually think ascent is their best shot at winning this series
g2 ascent comp is very beatable with good anti strat and i think heretics will have it ready, unlike haven where i would actually favor g2 due to the fact that viper is strong against double duelist yoru iso comps
