A levels are the equivalent of exams when you graduate high school (except the stakes are a lot higher as they affect where you go for university
or college for the americans) for those who don't know.

It's really not that bad. Getting into medicine in the UK is good anywhere, and I'm going to King's college London which is known for having a pretty good medical school. I would have rather wanted to go to imperial or UCL for medicine but not outside London and definitely not Oxford or Cambridge because the way they teach medicine is so bad.
