It completely lowers the quality of the competition, which is a disgrace to fair competition and shows disrespect to all participating teams and spectators. Riot is a company that only cares about money and is willing to sacrifice fairness for the sake of profit. If it were Valve, they would never do something like this

China is not inviting teams either; they're holding qualifiers for their representatives to Champions as well; it's where regional champions go against other regional champions to be the world champion. The logic still stands. Every tournament will have their worst and best teams. Any given match day, any team could surprise their opponents. ASE had expected themselves to be rolled over; but they grabbed 10 rounds against the Pacific runner-ups. For EDG, the stakes are higher for them since they are the returning representatives; and obviously, expectations between EDG and ASE are different.
Every team wants to be the winner; but every team wants to be realistic.
So you think T1 is also weak or what? Did you even watch their match? CN as a whole is not used to playing post plants so it's definetely a weak aspect for them, but in every other regard EDG does look very good. With the right coaching and more international exposure they could definetely be a top contender. Dont forget ASE was toe to toe with DRX on fracture, that's what the analysts said. Not just me. CN players have insane mechanics and riot understands that the only thing they're lacking is exposure.
They dont even have a league yet and all of their first Bo3s were against deep contenders with PRX the first time, 100T at LOCKIN//, and now ASE against DRX. EDG choked at the end today but all their matches were close and went 3 maps other than the DRX matchup. Champs has a lot of slots for all regions anyway so why not? I would say the only regions that need an extra slot is MENA region and maybe OCE.

China slots are not less internationally competitive as the model in 2021 and 2022
Weaker regions like JP and Latam also had direct entry slots and the CN games have been more competitive than what we had last year
Besides, China has undergone massive growth as a region in the past couple months, considering the game was only just announced to be greenlighted a couple months ago
It's a slap to the face to the other regions that have been competing for slots since the start of the international tournaments. And I know of china's potential and whatnot, but still it's unfair they get 3 teams for the biggest tournament before they could even get one win.
People mocked regions like Japan, Sea and Latam for having more slots than what they thought they deserved and when it's china I see nothing of this sort.
China's teams are not all that bad what is everyone complaining about? 2/3 Teams are probably going to be EDG and ASE. EDG made it to playoffs plus kang kang is so fun to watch. ASE got grouped but they took a map off of FUT. The final team will probably be similar or equal quality to ASE. Not that bad can maybe 2-1 your favorite team with some luck.
