old style of play I mean how they approach and view the game, not comps, I couldnt give a shit about comps, comps are always secondary behind macro and fundamentals
"after getting a kill isn't always the best option and they do take space and create pressure elsewhere" Agree, I should have clarified it, I meant when the CTs take the A line in Haven and leave that player holding that info so they can rotate one of the A players to B/C, there are plenty of rounds like this but the one that shows this best is against GenG when kaajak gets timing and catches t3xture offguard while he is holding A line with operator, if u are smart enough as an igl u would understand that a team like GenG will always rotate at least one player if t3xture has the A line so if u freeze and u dont make enough pressure in garage or C u wont be able to pin the defence and u will face one more player than you would have if u explode together getting the opener, this also isnt an occasional mistake, its something sistematic with Boaster, he just doesnt have the fundamentals or understanding of tac fps game theory
"Their defaulting is passive in comparison to active space taking like other teams , it's not necessarily bad" its not that bad depending on how u execute it and what your goals are, the way fnatic plays is very easy to counter since they dont change it, it relies on opponents not understanding how they play and making some dumb mistake but the thing is that they are not doing anything macro wise, they dont have info, they dont have map control and ultimately they end up going for 5 mid splits which is something that u can never do in tac fps and end up in very unfavorable situations where they often just lose to time or get bad duels, if u not biased and u analyze their games its easy to tell that they win most rounds due to individual quality not because they did something good macro wise, if you think this style of play that it relies solely on a stupid mistake where an enemy solo pushes your spawn is good then its small team/loser mentality, u are not playing the game but just hoping the opponent makes some very specific mistakes which the best teams dont make, I say this as a european but we havent got a fucking clue of how to play valorant, a lot of people say asian teams are braindead but with the exception of heretics last year and liquid this year they outclass us every single time in terms of macro/fundamental understanding of how valorant should be played, we need to be way more proactive, this style of play that we have is what I would call standinavian CS but the truth is that not even in CS which is a game that favours passive play way more than valorant you will see top tier1 teams play like this, sadly this style of play is the inheritance we got from t2-t3 CS rejects becoming IGLs/coaches in european valorant
