I see lot of people putting GENG top 1 and 3 for some reason
like how are you coming to that conclusion?
They beat MIBR. And MIBR lost to TL (0-2) whose IGL came to lan yesterday, and played a 6 man roster with scrim record of 24 hours. This is the MIBR they beat.
They beat PRX. #3 seed with a rookie who came into the team last minute. A team who barely made it out of APAC stage group by beating Zeta and GE who was a missing their coach btw. The PRX that people are scared (like FNS) is gonna to lose TL tmrw, a team citing myself, "whose IGL came to lan yesterday, and played a 6 man roster with scrim record of 24 hours"
Edit: They almost lost to TL who didnt even scrim some maps all together. This is insane lmao

what he's saying isn't totally unfair tho, they beat teams that aren't fully proven (PRX is very inconsistent, and are chokers), so putting them 1-3 does seem a little exaggerated

It's not an unfair take if you only look at the results and the opponents. It's entirely unfair, though, if you watched GEN play in those two matches, because they geniunely looked leagues above everyone else

yeah its cuz people went in wanting to overrate them on historical performance anyway. They have only beaten literally the worst team at the event and a long time regional matchup. It's far too early to say anything much of their strength especially when we of course have yet to see a first seed play.

Compared to the other teams in group stage they are clearly the best very dominant. Xlg is playing with a sub and I would put them above them. So they are already top 4 in my mind and I don't think it's a stretch based on how well they played to think they could come 1-3.

they beat MIBR and PRX. MIBR had the worst performance at an international in the history of franchising. PRX is a regional matchup GENG has played numerous times and are good at anti-strating. Nothing here actually indicates they're better than FNC, G2, RRQ or even SEN, XLG, WOL.

I'd argue they may even have a worse matchup into G2 than PRX simply because of style differences.

Let's be real, MIBR did not play like a masters-level team, and if they were playing like this in stage 1 they wouldn't have qualified. Source: they didn't qualify for EWC which is literally easier.

prx have looked great at times but it’s been three years and they have the same problems (choking and overheating)
wolves and sen both have large question marks surrounding their strength of schedule

WOL and SEN have question marks around strength of schedule and GenG doesn't??? hello?? the only teams gen.g beat were mibr and prx, and prx in turn only beat th and tl. The only non-apac teams that apac has beaten thus far have been the worst ones at the tournament.

Like apac looked very good in those wins (except tl), so it wouldn't surprise me if they do well, but using strength of schedule as an argument in favour of GenG/PRX is some delulu shit.

I mean, I understand wanting to treat ewc as a mickey mouse because of all the problems with saudi arabia, but the reality is that the players are not treating it as such bc of the prize pool. MIBR isn't even one of the 4 teams to make it from americas. Just because you don't like the tourney for valid reasons doesn't mean it isn't indicative of the team's performance.

You're right to say I can't prove that GenG is bad, they won both games lmfao, but calling them a top 3 team before they play serious competition is a stretch (and don't say PRX because that team has literally only beaten TH and zero-prep Liquid, and they barely beat TL at that).

I literally never said GenG was bad, I'm arguing that there isn't enough evidence to claim they're top 3.
