Why is Brazil always mentioned for death threats? Where did "come to brazil" originate and why is it widely known? Where there is smoke, there is fire and Brazillian fans have been notorious for doing such things for it to come into the spotlight over the years. You can call him xenophobic as it is normalised and not taken offence to nowadays but racism is the wrong choice of word as he did not get death threats from other ethnic/racial groups except Brazil hence he cannot selectively discriminate and and be 'racist'.

If you are uneducated about the meaning of racism then here it is: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group.

Complete waste of 2 to type this up but lets stay woke.

you can’t justify your racist comment by saying “it’s true” it’s like saying “‘x’ people are thieves and it’s not racist cuz ‘x’ people are always stealing shit! “

1) no, it is precisely the point. I dont even like lothar... but it seems pretty obvious to me that "brazilian fans" is literally just an identifier for which fanbase was sending him death threats. And since brazilian fans refers to literally no particular race, there is nothing racist about his post unless you wanna read that in, or unless he is lying. There are white people, black people, latin people, native people etc. in brazil. It's not targeted at any race

2) no more can you defend a racist statement by saying it's true than you can disprove any true statement by saying it's racist. If you wanna prove something untrue then argue the truth of it. Dont just call it racist. You wont convince anyone that doesnt already agree with you

It's like saying I'm racist for saying american is full of dogshit people. I'd be an asshole but not racist, in fact the fact that you think brazil is one ethnic group isn't racist but it's trying

Great, so we've come to an agreement that his comments literally cannot meet the criteria for racism. I'm not going to bother getting into an argument of whether his comments are xenophobic, because its somewhat subjective and the hive mind has clearly come to its own conclusion - not really worth the time

dude does it not cross your mind that

  1. he may have only received 1-3 threats.
  2. they might've been people faking their region (even if they werent see #3)
  3. he is generalizing the ENTIRE Brazillian fanbase with this message in a very negative light, he has presented 0 evidence of what he's claiming as well

just look at the replies, his tweet is really hurting their look.

Thats why I said he might be Xenophobic as it is normalised to say Brazilians send death threats. Just watch Tarik on stream, he occasionally jokes about Brazillian death threats and he has received them in the past during CS years, does it make him racist?

English isin't his first language so what he types or speaks might not be accurate. He cannot just name the users on twitter by their twitter handle so in short he identified they were Brazillians and hence addressed the BR fans.

And most importantly, it still hasn't shown the threats

bro you're using the fact english is not his first language as argument to make his tweet fit your point of view in every way you want
you can use the same excuse to justify that he misinterpreted messages as death threats because of lack of language proficiency
I'm not saying that's the case, just pointing out that this argument is falacious.

but why would he intentionally hate BR and throw them under the bus? You ever thought of that? Motive is a huge thing and it all connects due to his misprediction of Loud which are BR's biggest and most successful team so him getting threats isin't hocus pocus bs.

stop being bitches about it

it's actually a fucking culture
should we get angry when a rapper says he is going to murder another rapper?
no bc thats part of the hip hop culture

he COULD have received death threats (or might as well have read wrong from ppl that arent native english speakers)
and even if he did, how the fuck they're actually going to kill him? thats fucking dumb to believe in and even be scared
i'd be much scared if i received death threats from people that actually lived in my country

i meant culture in a way that is something normal
ppl don't actually take the "threats" seriously bc its trash talk

the example i used was pretty spot on
rappers say that they'll murder one another, nobody gets murder (except if you r xxxtentacion jk)

here at a soccer match it's common to hear the crowd scream "OOOO YOU'RE GONNA DIE" to the referee or an opponent player if they had a misconduct
we also put signs like "welcome to hell" in the entrance of our opponents seats at our home games

I already explained this a long time ago. But those things you guys call "death threats" are not really a death threat. You do not understand our culture, it's normal for us to say we are gonna kill someone. It doesn't really mean we are gonna kill someone. It holds no weight at all. It's just a way of saying "I'll make you pay" or something like that. The problem is that Brazilian fans who acutally use the prhase "i'm gonna kill you" on a daily basis in our contry, think that they could use it in the same way with people from a different culture, that's the big mistake, people outside brazil actually think this has weight or means something serious, while the BR fanbase doesn't know that, mostly don't even speak english well, can you imagine they understanding other people's cultire? Please.

The proof of that is the UFC. When we are the home crowd, people always shout to the away fighter "UH, VAI MORRER", that literally means, "YOU ARE GOING TO DIE", of course we don't want our fighter to kill the other dude, we are just saying that he is going to pay the price of trying to fight a brazilian, just banter for us.

Death threats are just keyboard warrior behaviour and it doesn't bother me but I am very insensitive compared to others so they might perceive it and be affected differently.

The thing is, it's isn't here in Brazil. We say "I'm gonna kill you" all the time here. To our friends, to our girlfriends and familly members with the same age, it's pretty common phrase, it holds no weight at all here. I will give you some examples.

We say to a friend: Duuude, if you do that, I will literally kill you!!

Our girlfriends say to us when we embarass them: I can't believe you did that!! I'm gonna kill you!!

Even when we are pissed off, we don't say: I will punch you, or I will beat you, we say I will kill you, we don't actually mean that. Ever.

It's pretty common tbh, it just doesn't translate well to other cultures.

we are way familiar with the concept of racism tks
ETA: I agree he's not racist

"come to Brazil" ia not a bad thing. ever since the beginning of the internet, there were always a Brazilian fan commenting "come to Brazil" in music videos (and later other kind of artists)

obviously there are Brazilians that are toxic and do death threats. but are we the only one? was it us threatening net, Trent and the other guys of the guard after Iceland? hmm idk so. this is what we complain about, the generalization.unfortunatelly, there are toxic members of our community in every country. there are so many nice Brazilian fans that support and spread love. it's frustrating honestly

The problem was doing accusations of a delicate subject for some part of the gaming community without being clear. You NEVER make accusations without proof, especially in internet where people doesn't even know to fact check.
