Once the most dominant force in Europe, G2 began to falter after a loss to Heretics in the First Strike finals, breaking their record win streak. Yes, it's a downgrade in firepower, specially for Kolda, but they have enough, firepower is not what they needed and definitely not what they are looking for with this move

Yeah if were to just look player-for-player it's a downgrade but you gain a legitimate star player in nukkye, somebody who can singlehandly takeover games and win them for you something none of the dropped players could.

They was really good when nobody have tactics and they win cuz of their skills, now when everyone have good igl and good tactics they are ass. But for me its bad move kicking patitek, hes so strong on duelist, he showed this on their last run in masters when he was their best player.

They are not "top" statistics(well maybe nukkye) or flashy plays wise, but it seems they went for teamwork/tactics focus approach. Previous G2 roster was all about aim/skill, but they practically had no IGL so they would get outstrategised, this roster is less aim/skill, more fundamentals/tactics.
