Question about aspas

I've only recently started following VCT again around Champs 2025. Why does he get the goat narrative? I mean he's got one trophy, it's a champs one yea and he was very important in that tournament. But If we wanna talk about players who carried Champs and were extremely dominant, Isn't kangkang just more suitable? I'm not even saying I think kangkang is the goat, i just think he fits the criteria WAY better than aspas does.

its just because Aspas has been consistently good, with some insane peaks and kill records
its because valorant doesnt have any good goat contenders so Aspas gets put there by defualt

because he baits to farm his stats. In all seriousness, he has consistently been THE STAR PLAYER across multiple rosters, multiple teammates and coaches, always does well at champs (at worst rn, 5th 6th) and is the icon of duelist players. Chronicle and Ethan has more achievements, sure, but chronicle currently has only played well it with fnatic (im not going to count 2021) and Ethan isn't really a star player. But i have to agree on the fact that NO ONE in current vct fits the goat status, the game constantly changing and champions winning roster quickly fell into irrelevancy. We need like atleast an extra 5 year before the goat debate truly starts

Edit: Objectively speaking, yes i should not have counted out 2021, gambit was clearly the best team of 2021 and chronicle was arguably their best player alongside nats. Maybe they could've achieved more in 2022 hadn't it been for the political situation, they were always one game always from a master and champs in 2022. Disregarding my personal bias, chronicle is probably the second candidate for the goat debate. He has more trophy than aspas and has done well in 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025. But that is still just 2 of chronicle's roster (gmb and fnatic) against aspas 3 (loud, lev, mibr) and chron also doesn't have a champs trophy.

pretty sure the year before his champs win he was in the previous champs final too and it was a very close series. So basically, consistently has been fragging for ages, has won the biggest trophy, single handedly carried Lev into tourny's (didn't win but they woulda never made it without him). He just consistently solo carries that's pretty much why he is the goat. There is the baiting narrative but if the person baiting always performs I don't see the issue personally.

Other goat contenders (imo):
forsaken, alfajer. Both of these guys are arguably more valuable to a team then aspas but aspas isn't really replaceable so I think he gets the edge.

If the goat must meet these criteria:

has multiple trophies,
was a visible carry in those trophy wins,
has achieved high placements year after year no matter the roster

Then the closest is just the FNC core, and even then it's been half of the game's existence since they last won a trophy.

If you remove the multiple trophy requirement, the next closest is clearly Aspas just looking at international placements across multiple rosters.

Then we consider PRX core, and then after that EDG just because a number of their international placements were from farming their initially weaker region and then bombing out.
