i feel like this year is the hardest its ever been by far. last year there was a clear answer but this year there hasnt been a dominant team with a super star rookie. who would you guys pick as of right now?

ill do 1 for each region

APAC: Hyunmin
EMEA: Kaajak
CN: happywei
AMER: Sato

patmen's clutching is more impactful than hyunmin's fragging power

does your rookie of the year from Pacific needs to be a duelist? How can you not see the impact of a good support player in this region?

#33

Frags

im probably the least duelist pilled person out there but in this case its just facts and im taking kushy, thyy, DH, ivy, ash all before patmen.

DH when he has played not even a full stage yet is crazy - maybe if he was INSANE but he is good but not anything wild and thyy has only really been great this stage.Patmen is deffo > all of the players u mentioned maybe apart from ash as he is legit a random rookie who came into a team who have had same core for the whole game and rarely change up players and had a crazy clutch percentage and mental role is being an anchor for the team so yes patmen is one of the best rookie as he WON a trophy at his first stage

#56
kyro1

Frags

patmen is the worst player on his team by a large margin. literally the only argument for patmen is that he won a trophy there is literally nothing else and if you put him on any other team in pacific nobody is saying hes in this convo.

Kaajak better

they probably don’t win split vs G2 without patmen

he’s had his moments throughout his time on PRX it’s fair to include him imo

yeah but patmen was part of the reason prx won toronto
hyunmin on the other hand didnt do much in bangkok for drx

let him cope, after all Patmen singlehandedly destroyed his flair

#41

The reason why he isn't being glazed like hyunmin is because hyunmin had to carry half his team while patmens team was good enough that he never had to carry them. It's that simple. More of DRXs relative success can be attrivuted directly to hyunmin than patmen with PRX because PRX already had 3 or 4 world class players before he joined. The impact he had on PRX was more obvious in the server (like through teamwork and keeping the other players in check and supporting them) than from the stats, unlike hyunmin where his impact is a lot more tangible through stats. I am biased so I still say hyunmin is ROTY for APAC but I understand why patmen should be considered very highly as the APAC ROTY and why he isn't by a lot of people.

Patmen helped them qualify for Masters toronto after joining mid-stage, then helped win a Masters trophy in the same stage. How is that not worthy of ROTY 😒

Kaajak is probably gonna take that title just bcz he is performing really well + he's in fnc so its almost Guaranteed that he's gonna have a deep run
Though i really like how good sato is performing he probably wouldn’t make far enough with current lev

Like I am in dilemma because my heart wants to say Kaajak because he actually looks like a contender for best player itw but my brain says Patmen solely because of bad PRX looked before they got him but idk how much I want to attribute that to Patmen because they did qualify for EWC cleanly with mindfreak. Right now, I am rationalising things as Patmen being able to fill a role mindfreak couldn't instead of Patmen > Mindfreak but I could also just be wrong. I don't know if I am underselling Patmen to say he's only a 'solid' player

#28
kyro1

Frags

PRX wouldnt have won toronto without patmen. that being said if you put patmen on any other team in pacific literally nobody is saying hes in this convo it is only based on the result. hes a good role player and hes impactful when he needs to be but trying to argue hes better than hyunmin, kushy, etc etc. there are seriously so many insane rookies in pacific that its just not a real convo its people blinded by results. i mean even if they came 2nd in toronto i dont think many people would be saying this. kaajak is clearly the more impressive of the 2 and clearly has a better future.

duelist as a role is a mistake, just cause theyre always set up by their teammates so they can do flashy plays and also expected to frag (and they do at the top level), the impact of other roles seems pale in comparison (keyword: seems)

americas rookie I would give to cortezia guy is a beast ingame and is impossible to hate with how much energy he brings, plus they actually made an international this year and lev has still yet to do that

#52
Wingull

the international argument isn't really fair though because cortezia has been on mibr since kickoff so he's had the chance to make every international this year, sato has only been on lev for stage 2 so there's been no chances for him to make an international yet
