Only 10 teams in total. Franchising was a mistake
That kinda sucks. Even in LoL they have more regions than just 3 so international tournaments feel exciting.
Like imagine tournament with only these teams(example): NRG, 100T, LEV, FNC, TL, NAVI, GIA, DRX, PRX, ZETA
would be banger games but feels boring in my opinion. Quality of every game will be high, but its just like if they skipped groups and went to playoffs straight away.
A bit of a quick turnaround considering Masters, LCQ, and Champions are going to be held in back-to-back months.
True, but at least you have EU and even NA who can't compete but can still have some BO1 wins or at least have close games vs Korea/China and have some good games against each other. And then you have all these minor regions who can take BO1 games from EU and NA teams. And ofc there's competition between the minor teams. While Masters Valorant will just be like if Worlds was only LCK, LPL and LEC while all the other storylines and matchups would be completely wiped aka like if they just skipped play-ins and groups and instantly went to playoffs.
That brazilian guy thinks Tournament should wrap up in 2 days 1st day korea vs china 2nd day final
At least in league u still have direct slots for regions and sub regions. We might never see cinderella runs again at this rate
This season has only 1 masters right? And it's only 10 teams? LMFAO
Ohh that's not too great then ngl 😞. But I will take whatever I can get
Technically the Lock In is the replacement of first split that's why the winner will have direct slot to Masters. Rito announced VCT will have only one Masters and one Champions. There will be two splits between the masters and champions in which teams will get slots.
It will follow the same structure as last year:
Split 1 -> Masters 1 -> Split 2 -> Masters 2 -> Last Chance -> Champions
This is the part where I ask, source please.
Because as far as I'm aware from official sources, there have been zero announcement about what the VCT calendar would be beyond 2023.
However, it is implied the 2023 model are going to be the baseline moving forward, with LOCK//IN changed into the first International League split.
In the original VCT format announcement they mentioned they are getting rid of a normal international split to do the kick off tournament. So you can safely assume it will go back to that normal format https://youtu.be/pgyvZItV4J4
"In normal years, our plan is to operate two international splits each season."
Accompanying the statement is a graphic of the calendar showing just that, without any mention of Masters or any events between Split 1 and Split 2.
so unchosen franchised teams wont even get a chance, how does that make sense from a competitive standpoint
so where do ascension teams come in? I feel like this will severely demotivate orgs from joining ascension. However, I’m sure they already knew riot’s system before us so idk
I don't see why would any sane organization enter Valorant to play in Ascension for nothing, this esport is so dead and they keep making it worse
unfortunately the csgo knockoff is addicting and a good esport regardless of how much riot screws up. Majority of the NA pros haven’t even played in an actual valorant lan when the game has been out for 2-3 yrs which is insane. These orgs must really trust that Val will take off in the future
Why would any org enter valorant in the previous era?? It wasn't a money machine to be playing valorant then so what's changed now?
Sadly true, I doubt if big orgs are even that interested to invest in the tier 2 scene like Ascension considered that it will not generate lots of views compared to tier 1 scene that will get promoted like crazy by the Riot team since we knew most casual viewers are looking forward more to the tier 1 and wouldn't care much for the tier 2 scene.
Still Valorant will have 25 regional leagues worldwide by 8-10 org each. It's 200-250 tier 2 orgs or 1000-1250 tier 2 players competing. Ask your braincells does cs:go have such amount of orgs and players in tier 2 scene? LMAO
your fav game will be dead next day if bett companies stop finance it or Danish government stop finance Blast. Valorant got franchised and Riot developing tier 2 very well, Valorant will become as big as LOL in fps. Keep being cs joe clown here on vlr and spread hate comments - we will laughing at you
And what these tier2 orgs gonna get from their leagues? No one will watch them, similarly to how no one watched EMEA VRLs. They'll just be losing tons of money on salaries over time, with no chance to make profits out of Valorant, because they're limited to their and only their regional division.
rito small indie company gets 16m dollars on a single skin, imagine how much they get from the rest of em and they cant decide to host more than 16 teams tourneys LMAO.
Is there going to be worlds/champs? With like 16 teams. 5 from each region 1 from master winner?
Franchise moment.
This is why open circuit csgo will always be better than this artificial scene propped up by riot. No one wants to watch the same 10 teams playing every tournament.
congrats on naming the only final together with krakow 2017 that had 2 fluke teams in finals for a game that has been going on for so long
bro tried to use something that happens once every 5 years at best as an example lmao
EMEA and asian fans crying bcuz they know it'll be gigachad americas with 4 teams
we OWN you
I thought italy was emea and brazilians cannot make into masters this time trust me
whatever we already won champions
DRX may be in masters, not bcuz they're good, but bcuz asia sucks
also, there's no italian team or player in franchise.
tbf, we can't really complain considering we are getting a 30 team tournament as the first thing of the year
This won't be a consistent thing they just need more teams to open up the amount that qualify
no problem, new CS will be released within 2 years and valorant will officially die
10 teams and it's probably not going to be a 2 groups with 5 teams round robbin or maybe even 10 teams swiss format since we knew Riot doesn't want to have multiple streams to broadcast the games like Red Bulls Homeground and prefer all match to be broadcast on one single channel instead.
if thats the case then make it 5 teams per region and the winner, only 3 teams is just insulting tbh
mfs in this thread surprised to know teams outside of franchising dont get the chance to qualify lmaooooooooooo, do vlr casual users even follow the scene?
my brainless brothers there are only 30 teams as of now, so they have to save the 16 team big tournament for champions. in the coming years as the league grows to 40+ TEAMS we'll see probably a 16 team masters and 24 team champs. it wouldnt be a really special tournament if in 2022 they just invite 24 out of 30 teams
More teams would be nice. But perhaps they can make it up by creating a bigger group stage!
So excited. All these new rosters and teams look fantastic.
Can't wait!
