If you promise a prize and organize a tournament, if the team participating in that tournament deserves this award by winning it, it is their right. Iceland may not accept citizens of Russia. (this is racist). Riot Games could invite FPX players to a country that accepts Russian citizens, for example Turkey, and they could play their matches in this tournament in the presence of referees at the Riot office in Turkey. Civil aviation and civil visits to the country cannot be prevented unless they are at war with that country. Sanctioning people belonging to a particular country, race or religion is racist. States and companies can be sanctioned, but not civilians

If this isn't supposed to be a joke, playing from Turkey to Iceland would be about 150-200 ping, so they would lose horribly to even the worst team there.

That obviously can't happen. They're competing against real teams who want #1 just like they do and wherever they place (poorly or highly), they would fully deserve the points from facing and beating that competition.

"What aboutisms" are no longer necessary after it's already decided that fpx can't make it. Just gotta move on from the unfortunate circumstances

Now they are getting an unfair advantage compared to Guild etc who also didn't qualify for Masters. But TL get rewarded as if they did. Giving them prize money where ever they place is fair, because Masters is a tourney on its own. But it shouldn't have impacted the circuit

That's kinda good and bad. Why bad? Because FPX knew they won't make it anyway to Masters and played without any pressure the whole Games. You play better/difficult when you have nothing to lose and that's kinda unfair to those Teams that had lots of pressure on their shoulders. Riot really can't handle this kind of situations. They really should have moved from Iceland to Turkey, so any Player who made it could attend Masters. Don't get this obsession with Iceland and Berlin.

There are 8 teams in playoffs, 4 from the top regions and 4 from groups. They were automatically in playoffs aka in the final 8, hence why they were given 8th place

I don't know, in my opinion the Liquid are the most boring team to watch out of the top 7 vlr.gg rankings. No, if you're an org fan or you like the style of some of the players - ok, but from the outside they very rarely show a great game as a team (while I agree that as performers they are all great players)
