Why Yay is the undisputed GOAT

Yay was undoubtedly the best player in the world in 2022, and was top 4 in 2021 (could have been even higher if he was proven even more). Why do I make these claims? Well, here are some of his achievements:

-2nd Masters Berlin 2021
-1st Masters Reykjavik 2022
-3rd Masters Copenhagen 2022
-2nd Champions 2022
-2022 Best Esports Athlete

By the way, in over 39 matches in 2022 he only went negative TWICE versus Guild and EG. And across every LAN event in his career from Masters Berlin 2021 up until Lock/in he only went negative ONCE on the international stage.

#1 rated player in Masters Berlin and Champions 2022
#2 rated player at Masters Reykjavik 2022
#4 rated player at Masters Copenhagen 2022

2023 came around and he was dropped by Clown9 for "role issues" (money issues) leaving him to play with trash bots in tier 2 such as steel and nerve. Some common arguments people like to make against him are him being a chamber one trick and for losing matches in tier 2.

So what if he only played chamber? he was the best at it and he was super meta. Not his fault people were not nearly as dominant as him with the agent. Also, he is not inflexible as he can also play jett and sage at a high level and has been grinding ranked the past few months with yoru and raze. Additionally, DSG was the worst team in NA VCL and had extreme fundamental issues. The team did not give him much support at all that is required to set up your duelists for success.

So, this is why I believe yay to be the best pickup for any VCT roster in the 2024 season.

I'm talking about rating of the whole event. It's easy to just count the grand finals because that's who won, but when you look across all of the matches played, the stats are much different.

Like for champs for example, aspas isn't even top 20. To say he is #1 just cuz he won is silly.

Also the agent pool narrative is garbage, he can play raze, yoru, jett, sage, and chamber all at a high level and is one of the best awpers in the history of the game. If you have the option to pick him up but don't you're throwing away so much value.

My comment will just be based off what I saw - without ratings and stats:

Besides his own skills - which I give credit to - another point I feel to take into consideration yay's success is the Optic team that he was on. I feel FNS and the team managed to set him up to play really well, whether be it Jett or Chamber based on the plays. You mentioned DSG not being able to set him up for success - which kind of prove my point that the team is very important to how the player shines too.

Hopefully next year he's able to be set up for success too.
