I'm so glad he got a meme team, atleast now for 2 games there was high viewership in GC
sure glad he didn't get a real team that would've atleast held viewers further into the tourney

And before you say oh streamers don't need to get paid, they are taking time out of streaming (which is big money) to play in a tournament and practicing a lot for it as well. It doesn't seem fair that just because they are content creators, they can't put effort in to improve and try their best to play in a tournament. Also even if it is for 2 games, their opponents will also get attention because lots of people will be watching them as well
Overall, i think it is still great for gc and even if it isn't, you can't be going around and saying that they aren't a real team just because they are content creators.

Also by your logic even the big orgs are cringe for competing because they have their interests in mind. the sponsors are cringe because they are giving money for marketing. if you're reading his intentions solely off his tweets, then it may seem that he's always on a high horse.
but watch his stream and you'll find out he said multiple times how the viewership benefits him, and even boasts about how he's doing nothing and getting views (meanwhile the girls are the ones doing the work). i dont think he's pretending to do anything, just doing what he thinks is fun and can get views (aka the job of a content creator)

Toast himself will more than likely tell you everything he does is self serving to an extent. To use that in order to claim he doesn't care about the GC scene is idiotic to say the least. Not to mention, while a toast team in GC would likely bump viewers slightly just because of his viewers supporting his venture, it wouldn't have the same effect as 4 well known streamers being thrown into an open tournament where all 5 of their viewers are supporting their experiment.

I think it is in bad taste for someone to pretend they do it for non personal gain, when it is infact for personal gain.

I have no problem with doing something for personal gain and I don't think toast needed to write on his forehead 'I AM DOING THIS FOR MYSELF' or anything
but largely on twitter he did things like asking for recommendation for players to him saying his team actually really cares about winning and isn't just a stream team leads people to believe he isn't doing it out of self interest

Self interest or not, does it really matter? My question to you is why do you let it bother you that you need to post about it?

He said it himself, there was not enough time and investment is too much for a short turnaround, Toast will probably make another roster after NA Quals are done and what? Are we going to be mad again that he may not have chosen the right people? He has intentions in becoming a gaming org. He is trialing different ways to do things, so what? What have you lost with him doing this?

You are saying Toast is getting clout from doing this? So what? The whole stream team and coach got into it knowing what it will do to their brand. Toast himself has said that he wants to make streaming a possibility for everyone and anyone. You know how much recognition Ruin and Ttupperware has gotten recently? It's also for their careers as content creators and streamers.

Whether if you like how the business is dealt with or not, it still brought attention to the scene 1 fan at a time. The more viewers GC gets, means more money, more money means more opportunities, more opportunities means a bigger scene.
