college is def the more popular name but university won’t have people looking at you weird.
unless you say “i’m going to university”
which isn’t normal, even though we say “i’m going to college”
you would want to say i’m going to “a university” or “the university” or “(insert name here) university.”

depends on ur SAT/GPA as most schools will use that as a baseline to determine whether your application is viable or not (obviously other stuff like extracurriculars and personal essays will be very important, but you need the fundamentals down pat)
For a GPA like that you might want to consider schools like UC Irvine but that might still even be a bit of a reach. There's a lot of good Public schools that are good for computer science that are much less selective and probably would be a better fit.

I am currently a junior at Caltech (majoring in CS) and I just want to say that my financial aid has been amazing. That being said, financial aid is harder to get for international students at any U.S. college, so your experience may be different. Also, the ‘t’ in Caltech is not supposed to be capitalized but tbh I don’t really care.

find someone you know who can give you good recommendations and from there you can make a choice. i suggest you take due process in trying to find one because its gonna play a huge effect on your life
Waterloo in Canada if you have really good grades, same with MIT or any big us university
Honestly, most of the Tech schools over here are pretty dang solid for any type of engineering. Easier to get into, less money, while still having the status to get you good jobs out of school. The tech schools also often provide really good connections for internships which often turn into jobs out of college.
S tier: MIT, Caltech, Stanford
A Tier: Georgia Tech, UIUC, UMich, Purdue, UC Berkeley
B Tier: Any state school basically
C Tier: Other private colleges
D Tier: Community College
u gotta be a different beast to get accepted to these s or a tier schools for some engineering fields man...
You gotta sell an arm and a leg to get into those schools. Either that or you won some big international award.
not necessarily true for either as top schools offer need-blind financial aid. In fact, if you're unsure about your economic ability to pay for tuition it's arguably better to go all-in on applying for top schools as they cover a ton of the cost.
Stanford provides like 90+% of tuition fees and the number goes higher depending on your family's annual income.
There is no real top tier college in the US that has cheap tuition though afaik lmao, so in terms of flat tuition fees you are correct. Fucking hate that tbh.
As for International awards, people who have won medals at Math Olympiads or received other awards can still be rejected from top schools (obviously less likely to be rejected than accepted but it CAN happen). Schools like MIT are purely holistic and will not care less about you if you have no awards.
Probably, I just ranked it one tier lower just in general for Tech related fields.
Caltech is a little different from schools like MIT and Stanford; it's a lot more geared towards research and academia compared to the former 2, which often include and encourage business in their education.
Stanford, Cal Tech, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Cornell and John hopkins come to mind
Mcmaster, Waterloo, University of Toronto is a good one, University of Britich Columbia is also really good but these are in Canada
I know that you asked for universities in USA. But I would like to suggest that you can probably try for education in Germany. It's like very less fees because most of the students get a lot of scholarships. There is not much discrimination for people from other countries as the native people are not very much interested in engineering and all because of quite similar salaries in other fields too (found by data, not my opinion) . So there are a lot of opportunities. And German education is one of the best and can guarantee you a high salary job. I also heard from a friend who has been there that you don't need very high marks for admission like you do for MIT and all. So yeah . Rest is all your choice and good luck for your journey brother😇 !
How smart are you?
If you're dumb, go to community college, if you're smart MIT or Stanford, maybe Berkeley.
Reinsleer and RIT are really underrated because they have good connections in New York. For a decent chance in America, try NJIT as they have a good foreign program and have the highest job acceptance after graduation for a public school
UT austin is good for computer science if you like the texas area, and many pros live there like the TSM house :^)
