- $1.25mil Prize Pool for 2025, $2mil Prize Pool for 2026 (both greater than a Masters event)
- The teams that attended the Esports World Cup 2025 qualified through VCT Stage 1 or the EWC qualifiers. There were 0 invitations (unlike RedBull and other off-seasons). The best teams of the world at the time were playing and competing for the 1.25mil prize pool. Similar EWC qualification stage for 2026.
- ALL VCT teams have EWC as a part of their schedule a year in advance (unlike other non-VCT tournaments). It is unserious to consider EWC as an irrelevant tournament. ALL teams have plans for it before the season starts.
- Objectively, EWC is a valid tournament (equal to a Masters at the minimum). Politics do not decide whether the tournament is mickey or not.
- EWC is a yearly tournament (2025 onwards until 2028 minimum). This is not a one-time tournament.
- Format:
Single-Elim Playoffs & Grand Finals (The EWC Grand Final is more fair than any VCT Grand Final because there is no 2-map ban advantage for either of the finalists)
Consolation Final (to ensure the 3rd and 4th place teams get the prize money they deserve)
Group Stage: All winner/loser/decider matches are a best of 3 (same group stage format as VCT Champions). - Rewards better-performing regions: (EMEA did the best at EWC 2025, so they get an additional slot at EWC 2026 which is taken from the worst-performing region at EWC 2025 (China)).

We've lost to fnatic like 10 times over the last five years what is this supposed to prove? We've lost to zeta and 2026 geng ffs. I would still rather take a single champs win over any number of non riot events. (As a fan, the org can have whatever opinion they want tbh)
I literally show u that we destroyed you (PRX and DRX) on Champions to reach final of it (most prestigious event) and we lost in 5-mapper
So about what non-riot events you talk xd there is literally ONE "non riot" event that is unofficially still riot event because no one can organise events in Valorant without their permission
If you think we look down on tournaments we don't win that's insane cause paper rex has been to 10+ internationals and only won a single one. I loved the champs 2023 run even though we bottled it. It was a legendary year that was fucking insane. 2024 champs was also insanely good with EDG winning. 2025 the DRX run was also absurd. Santiago with an ascension team lifting an international trophy is also historic even if people keep calling it a fluke. I have loved every event in the last 3 years and realistically its not even that I hate ewc its just that I can't take it seriously. I have loads of minor issues with it but it mostly comes down to its not part of the VCT circuit. I mostly only watch tier 1 valorant because that's all I have time for. I know people who liked the games in EWC but my point was always that its not just people coping since their team didn't win. There are other reasons to not watch EWC but that's their opinion and I don't see why that is a problem.

im sorry but any event with terrible production and bo1s cannot be fully valid in comparison to main circuit events. also format for iem is totally different and the level of competition is about the same. can't say the same for ewc, just watch last year's matches

I was referring to the compounding of the two, but since you want to debate it further, cs is a more challenging game. so, when you have the best teams at the major, the level of play is high enough to the point where the bo1s don't matter. you will see the best teams come out of that into the finals stages of the major, always. in valorant, a game where vetoes do in fact have a greater impact because of the manner in which teams prepare for matches, playing a singular map instead of 3 or even 5 is in fact creating more variables to the match. in cs, the closest equivalent to cn val is prob na, and usually they don't impact the top 5-8, which is where the matches aren't bo1. valorant simply sees a crazy range of skill between teams in comparison to cs, where the top teams (almost entirely eu) qualify to every event with the exception that you might have a team outside of the top 15 global ranking who makes a run like parivision but that team is almost always eu too
Well, you have the best teams but maybe on Stage 3 and sometimes 1-2 teams on stage 2 cuz of VRS points, like now Spirit that just demolished everyone in stage 2 cuz they were clearly too good for any other team
Also, on stage 1 there is a lot of shitty teams that arent even Major level, like Gaimin Gladiators, that won 14 rounds in 4 maps combined (2x bo1 + bo3)
Also lets take for example Tyloo that lost 2x bo1, then won every bo3 to climb into stage 2
BO1 is just bad in general, but I dont mind FIRST game to be BO1 for everyone on any event, if its not elimination or advancement game
Its not that major = best of the best, there is just too many teams to be good, on stage 1 you have australia that are famous of going 2-0 in bo1's and then lose every bo3 possible or CN and NA teams that are clearly worse than most of other stage 1 EU Teams

i would much much prefer if international events had single elim playoffs and normal bo5 final where both teams get 1 map ban.
or even just make the Upper Final a bo5 (make getting the double map ban less flukable)
i just dont agree with double elim bracket in playoffs at all. if you lose you dont deserve a 2nd chance. thats why lockin was so goated

Single elim literally allows some teams to fluke their way deeper in the tourney while knocking out more deserving teams if they have a bad game. No format is perfect, every format has its flaws, most esports have chosen a double elim style bracket, and its completely fine.

Memea had to go against china and regional match to do decent all to go 0-6 in playoffs
if they dont win though, the VCT trophy drought will be longer than Pacific 2021-2024.
