At the end of the day, this is my opinion, you are free to make your own list

ORIGINAL: https://www.vlr.gg/410689/top-5-single-map-performances-ever

I considered 4 factors:

  • The performance itself - Rating, ACS, etc
  • The Setting - the more prestigious the setting, the better
  • How it holds up in the present day
  • Other factors

Honorable Mentions (not ordered or ranked):

Jawgemo Bind vs PRX
Smoggy Abyss vs TH
Aspas Lotus vs Sentinels
Alfajer Lotus vs PRX
Chichoo Lotus vs TH
Cryo Bind vs FUT
Marved Haven vs Zeta
Nats Fracture vs Acend
Yay Haven vs 100T
Yay Ascent vs Liquid
QCK Sunset vs EDG
Woot Sunset and Bind vs Navi
Woot Icebox vs FPX
Tehbotol Breeze vs Optic
Tenz Breeze vs F4Q
Aspas Icebox vs C9
Zekken Split vs GenG
Less Icebox vs Optic
Sacy Ascent vs Optic
Shao Haven vs DRX

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#5 Less Split vs PRX

2.33 Rating, 424 ACS, 24/7, +17

The Performance Itself : 9.5/10
The Setting : 9/10
How it holds up in the present day : 8.5/10
Other factors : 10/10

Total Score : 37/40

Formerly the #1 performance, a relatively unknown masterclass by Less in Champions 2023 playoffs vs PRX is now the 5th place.

An incredible statline during champs playoffs against a finalist while playing an extremely off-meta pick catapults Less into the upper echelon. Unfortunately for him, while the Valorant played is certainly not ancient, it is not fully modern either, and as such a point has been deducted since the last list.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#4 Brawk Corrode vs Fnatic

1.93 Rating, 375 ACS, 24/7, +17

The Performance Itself : 9.5/10
The Setting : 10/10
How it holds up in the present day : 10/10
Other factors : 8/10

Total Score : 37.5/40

Dropping a near 2.0 Rating with a > 3 K/D in the most recent Champions Grands finals is ridiculous, earning him near perfect/perfect marks in the the first 3 categories. The only thing going against him is that there was nothing else particularly remarkable.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#3 Aspas Haven vs NRG

1.73 Rating, 318 ACS, 23/8, +15

The Performance Itself : 9/10
The Setting : 9/10
How it holds up in the present day : 10/10
Other factors : 10/10

Total Score : 38/40

Aspas absolutely fries NRG in Champs playoffs, with nearly a 3 K/D while hard entrying (a perfect 6-0 in FK/FD). He gets a full score in 'other factors' for this not just being against the soon to be World Champs, but also due to it being part of probably the greatest performance ever. Oh, and he did it while sick.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#2 Brawk Haven vs GiantX

2.40 Rating, 324 ACS, 18/1, +17

The Performance Itself : 10.5/10
The Setting : 9/10
How it holds up in the present day : 10/10
Other factors : 10/10

Total Score : 39.5/40

Brawk tosses Giantx into the torture chamber and throws away the key.

Most kills in the server, 1 death, 4k both pistols, IN CHAMPS PLAYOFFS. We will never see this again. The only improvement possible would have been to go completely flawless with no deaths for an 11, but he'll have to settle for only a 10.5/10

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

#1 Ethan Sunset vs Fnatic

1.71 Rating, 355 ACS, 23/12, +11

The Performance Itself : 9/10
The Setting : 11/10
How it holds up in the present day : 10/10
Other factors : 10/10

Total Score : 40/40

'I have to keep singing the praises of Ethan though...Ethan is going above and beyond the call of duty right now' - Pansy and Hypoc, Round 6

Ethan puts the cape on and saves the day. It's Map 5 of Champs Grand Finals, the stakes could not be higher. The performance could hardly have been better. It's the kind of game that every competitor dreams of having, on the biggest stage and under the brightest lights to lead your team to win it all. With it, he makes history as the first ever two-time World Champion, the most decorated player in the game's history. Oh, and did I mention he did it on a nerfed Breach?

optic had a terrible record against emea teams, i think tl was actually favored going in. if you ctrl + f the word "emea" in the comments a lot of people said optic would lose

i think hyunmin ascent vs prx was more impactful than brawk on corrode because fnc were already outplayed so hard that map macro-wise, not an absurd once in a decade type of scoreline like 18-1 either

Hyunmin Ascent vs PRX

Performance: 8.5/10 (at least a half step lower than anything on the top 5, this could easily be an 8 btw)
Setting: 9/10 (champs playoffs)
How it holds up today: 10/10 (duh)
Other Factors: 8.5/10 (only positive on team, but its not like they're boastering, they're all near even)

36/40

Good shoutout

Performance: 9/10
Setting: 10/10 (champs finals)
How it holds up today: 8.5/10 (not ancient but teams are a solidly better these days)
Other Factors: 9/10 (arguably cemented himself as the best raze in the world over the other option: Jingg, because of this map)

36.5/40

Even with a slightly generous 9 for 'other factors' it still doesnt crack top 5

"how do I make recency bias + nrg fav team bias without saying it"
nats bind vs sen, in bangkok, for example, was way better than this crap (basically him solo carrying, amazing clutches)
honestly none of these nrg performances were remarkable. What makes a performance remarkable is if you solo-carry the team in a close game, solo-drag across the finish line (ex. you are +15 and your team is -1,-1,-2,-2 in a 13-11). These nrg games? They have teammates who are also positive, it's not a solo effort. That's not impressive at all. Everyone's stats look great in a 13-0. Look at sunset last grand final, kangkang goes 22-9, I don't even see that here, way better than Ethan in the same importance. For context, these maps were 13-1 for nrg, 13-3, and 13-5. I've watched aspas put up way better numbers while he hard-drags his team kicking and screaming across the finish line.
Just stop being recency + fav team bias. It's not even believable

Nats Bind vs SEN

Performance: 9.5/10
Setting: 7/10 (Masters Swiss Stage against winless, last place team)
How it holds up today: 10/10
Other Factors: 7.5/10 (minor points for being the biggest stomp of the tourney, otherwise not noteworthy)

34/40

  • Also I don't even like NRG, I just don't fw fnatic

  • And KangKang would have lost points for being on the most broken agent in the game's modern history, Smoggy's Abyss performance was objectively more impressive, as was Chichoo's Lotus, and I had Smoggy's as the highest of those at 36.5 (go make your own list if ur don't like it)

ethan went 23-12 as the IGL AND on nerfed breach + fnatic had the momentum as they were about to do a reverse sweep. kk was on buffed neon, there’s a difference.

Of all the Aspas games, you decided to put a game where they 13-4 their opponents? it's a stomped so it's bit meaningless no? Unless he dropped 400+acs and was the reason they stomped their opponents then it shouldn't be in there. How close the game was should also be accounted for

This is a monster game (~3K/D, perfect FK/FD, etc), in champs playoffs, against the winners, part of arguably the greatest bo3 performance of all time, while sick. According to S0m, he basically ruined their entire haven attack macro: https://youtu.be/ojhStEO4uJs?si=9Amd20hlR-k_CCNL&t=394

If you scored it with the same method I did, which performance tops it?

The premise of a “how it holds up today” is stupid af. A performance from 2021 wasnt a worse performance because it occurred 4 years ago
