The new server in PH was a huge release and I admit I would have never bet on a new PH server soon (Since HK server was probably mostly a PH server since only north VN and HKTW was the only other country that play on it
Let's bet on : What will be the next server Riot will release on Valorant !

Before we start I want to say that, I'm really curious to know the best ping and server for people that live in a country that don't have one, so don't hesitate to tell me it's gonna be helpful to my research.

Here are to me the main contenders, I want all of you to give a percent chance of this to be the next server :

Toronto : Probably useless since too close from Chicago, but sometimes the internet cable have weird track, so we never know…
USA : I have absolutely no idea where
Lima : I don't see how Bogotá server help, it seems than Peru is a scene with potential since they have the population or Argentina, and they already have a developed scene on some niche games, it seems it would also help a lot Bolivia (Potentially reducing by 30ping), but I’m not sure if I can trust my data.
Buenos Aires : I don't trust in that one, Buenos Aires already have a great ping on Santiago, but if Lima become a thing it could become a contender
Fortaleza : I trust 0% even if it's an interesting hub for north Brazil (One third of a huge population) that I don't think have a good ping, and south Caribbean, (and it could be a solution for BR-NA visa problem)
Lagos (Or any part in CEDEAO), pro : Probably the part of the world that need the most, con : very poor
Nairobi/Zanzibar (Or any part of EAC), pro : Kinda isolated but less than West Africa, but more stable, con : Maybe even poorer than Nigeria
Italia : Biggest developed country without a server
Marseille (Or LNA) : Weirdly enough it sounds Marseille is a Maghreb internet cable hub, It would become the "LNA server" if happening (The same way Miami is the LAN server)
Balkans (Including Greece) : I have no idea why, but it seems their best server is Frankfurt, No Warsaw, No Istanbul despite being lother, I'm really curious to have more info about "how is the ping and the best server in there"
Moscow (Or West-Russia) : A no-brainer, but I think they are a problem with rules even if the war is over
Almaty (Or Central Asia) : A huge market that Riot need to conquered
Ulaanbaatar : Val and FPS is growing in there, and it could be a solution for central Russia that can't have a server
Chennai (or East-India, I know Chennai is south India, but it might be still the best place for east-India for submarine netw) : India is big and a growing market, and it seems Bangladesh and probably east India doesn't have an amazing ping on Mumbai (East Indian please tell me), it can also be useful to scrim SEA people.
Bangkok (Or Mainland SEA) : I really thought it was one of the best contenders seeing how TH is huge, and it might also help VN that is a market with potential
You can expand this list by proposing some more server if it’s make sense (A 16th proposition could be nice so we can run a tournament)

So here are the odd and the tierlist, What percent of chance I would give to all of them, give yours !

Chennai servers are not that good of an idea, considering how see cables are placed, it wont have a lower Latency for most players, an Argument can be made for Kolkata Servers for players in Bangladesh and more northern parts of India. Players I know from Bangladesh prefer playing on SG (40-ish ping similar to Mumbai and less toxic). Thing is Mumbai is good enough for Most of India. so I dont see it happening

I just have this one https://www.submarinecablemap.com/ where all submarine cable point at Chennai, wish would become the best place to scrim SEA, but I admit it might not be perfect for Bengal bay

You're absolutely right, I didnt think about Scrims and how Chennai could serve as a hub for SEA teams. I was looking at it from a more casual player perspective. At the end of the day its always the casual base which drives decisions behind where servers get placed.

They are too many people that have Istanbul as their best server, but they pick another one, cant put a server for all of them, sadfully

It's a weird case for me
I used to live in Istanbul (I'll be going back soon), and there I'd get 4 ping but on London I'd get 45-50 ping

Then here in Baku I remember up until early this year I'd get 44-46 in Istanbul, and around 78-80 in London

But for whatever reason for a couple of months now my Istanbul ping is 70 and my London ping is 100 even tho I use stable Ethernet, I didn't change my location, it's weird

São Paulo is the most advanced state in terms of infrastructure to this kind of technologic investment, that's why Riot studios are located in here aswell. It's really common to have people with 50+ ping, but I don't think that making a NE server would fix anything, because people are already used to this "SW-centrism" in Brazil (also, it's really common to people in NE to just queue Miami, Atlanta or Madrid, you can get 75-90 ping in NA with a really good connection, even some LoL/CS teams have already made "mini bootcamps" in Pernambuco, CS teams specially, where some Fragadelphias were won by tier 2 BR teams like Team oNe playing with plus 100 ping iirc).

Argentina and Chile really deserve their own servers, specially Chile (would include LA-N aswell), would agregate a lot to their scenes (South America in games like Dota 2 really suffer from this matter, since they still don't have a Peru server until this day, even when my guys are always making it to the world tournaments, similar to what KRÜ does in Valorant).

Servers for Mongolians and Kazakhs is really interesting, they are in a rise in CS for a while (Kazakhs have been a thing since 2018 Gambit, Mongolians just won EWC with TheMongolz).

And, in my opinion, it's just stupid how TH/PH doesn't have a server? Like, wtf? LOL

Why in Pernanbucano and not in Fortaleza ? based on this map https://www.submarinecablemap.com/ this would be the best option. I dont think getting the habit to play with bad ping is good for North BR, if you know some of them could you ask them please ? :D I'm really curious to have their opinion on that

Chile already have their server, thats why I dont rate high Argentina ^^, I also think Peru is a huge darkhorse.

"South-CIS" is really a place with so mushpotential but Geopolitics doesn't help and it seems putting a server in RU would be a problem even with peace for legal reason, thats why Kazakh have their chance, and even Mongolia that would cover Siberia have their chance.

For SEA we have : PH / SG / HK, but mainland SEA (TH, VN, CB, LA, MM) doesn't have a server

the only issue with mongolia is we have pretty low population to be even considered having any servers here by major games so we stuck with 100+ ms/ping server on sea or euw but on HK/JP we barely have 60+ ping

Sure but you have one chance : it's may be like Korea, if you are small but have the culture, since you are only 10 times less than KR, it's not that dead, dpending on how big FPS is in there, and CS is so big they are a hope... Also a MN server would also be good for the Balkai region. (Wish basically doble the target population)
I think the feasability of a MN server would depend a lot of what would be the ping on Central Asia and Novosbirsk, if Kazakh or Uzbek can have a good ping on UB, then you could be seen a "The most stable country of the region"

Thats the 2 reason why I think they are a thin hope. I'll come back with demographical stat tomorrow in SEA to see if you reach an intresting percent of the team playing Val, who knows, maybe you will reach like... 50% of the number of PH team, would not be enough to have one, but it would start somewhere and give a slight hope for the future

Tokyo is like 5k km away from Novosibirsk and it's shit for Stan countries as well. Ping to Warsaw from Moscow and satellite cities is already 25 and below, I bet that people in Smolensk/Bryansk have below 20, same goes for Stockholm server and Pskov/Novgorod/Petersburg, all below 20, western Russia doesn't need a server.

All I'm saying is that if you want to place a server in Russia it should be either in extreme south (Krasnodar/Rostov or in Dagestan/Chechnya, Armenians and Georgians would appreciate that a lot) or in central Siberia, not in Moscow.

Petersburg-Warsaw is 26-27, Moscow-Stockholm is 23-25, I've not played from Moscow after they updated the routing but it should be 20-25 to Warsaw now. Tver and Novgorod/Pskov should have below 25 to Warsaw as well

Also Swedish internet and routing is just shit for valorant, that's why you have this feeling, I have lower ping from Petersburg to Stockholm than my friend from Gothenburg to Stockholm (13 vs 18), Moscow-Warsaw distance is 1150 km, Petersburg-Warsaw is 1100 km, ping should be the same.

Alright, i'm hook, I was looking for a 16th server name, I think it will be PK. little question, if i'm not mistaken if we put a server in Lahore it will only reduce the ping by 15ms if we put it in Karachi (Karachi is theorically right in the middle of Lahore and Dubai), so is that really worth it ? Would you put it somewhere else that isnt Karachi ?
