Champs will get a mil most likely

not that it really matters with the way Valorant's esport scene works anyways

There will be a ESL event in China too, according to Liquipedia, if their lockdown disappears of course

Really unbelievable how more matches CSGO teams play than Val teams per season

Val orgs basically giving free salary for nothing, there's no exposure whatsoever, unless you qualify to Champions and collect 500k+ from skins, there's no reason to stay in Val

#45
Mkin11

this is why they will move to the franchise system, that way orgs get more exposure( at least the ones that enter the leagues).

https://www.hltv.org/team/11501/heet#tab-matchesBox
https://www.hltv.org/team/11251/eternal-fire#tab-matchesBox

Just look how many matches they played since the beginning of 2022, there's a tournament every week, every month, even if it's low-tier, it's still something

In trash Valorant circuit, you're limited to playing only in your own VRL or only in your region's VCT and nowhere else, which results into miserable 15-25 played maps per split (on average)

#11
philion
1
Frags

actually the opposite, tier 2 cs events: ESL challengers, Dreamhack events, REPUBLEAGUE, Weplay academy events for B teams, ESEA cups, pinnacle cups, even amateur teams can cash out 2k every week from FPL.

valorant esports just needs more time, CS has been a thing for 22 years

#21
Olofboost
-3
Frags

More time? Lmao time isn't the issue here

Valve allow organizers do whatever they want in CSGO and set up tournaments for all teams

Riot take everything into their own hands, but still can't create normal circuit, making it a fiesta for everyone

#23

well they did say things will change from next year, one can only hope. tho I doubt it'll be anything significant cuz you're right about riot wanting to be in total control of their games and esports

time is no the issue here, riot is controlling the esports bit of the game there wont be a change.

#42

Actually exactly the opposite... there are sooo many Tier 2-3 events going on you can basically watch a live game at any point of the day

Talking about Tier 2, Bad News Eagles, a CS team from Kosovo, just made it to the major. They are an FPL Team, so just shy of "pro" and they had a miracle run recently that had them going up against the best of the best. So no, it's just just Tier 1 teams benefitting from this format. Especially with the franchised league system that is coming in VAL it will be harder for Tier 2 and upcomers to make it to the big stage.

love or hate Valorant, we have to agree that Valorant circuit suck ass and its very unhealthy for players. No franchised League like LoL but only 3 LAN events. EMEA Challengers 2 literally worst format I ever seen. But on other hand, Val only 2 years Esport, so understandable that its circuit suck compare with other tier 1 Esport

Instead of giving excuse "it's only been 2 years", you can question Riot why couldn't they implement something normal from the beginning

Pros complained about not having enough tournaments since forever

#18

actually they don't restrict this year, but next year will be franchise/partnership so I don't think 3rd party will interesting this year. There will be like 3 or 4 months in the end of this year for non-VCT 3rd party events

#19

tournament organizers need to get permission to host tournaments above $10k prizepool or with LANs

The reason why cs:go circuit >>> than Valorant is volvo allows 3rd parties and gives them all commercial rights I.e. sponsors - betting companies.

Rito doesn't allow to 3rd parties all commercial rights + doesn't allow betting companies that's why no ESL and Blast on Valorant circuit.

All being said, volvo is smarter, gaben can invest nothing in cs circuit and give all to 3rd parties. Rito want to manage commercials themselves and their policies against betting companies don't allow such big sponsorships.

#24
valulrantefanboy
6
Frags

but it still work in LoL, you can't say Valve better when their DOTA scene is slowy dying. Yes CSGO is still growing in EU /BR/ and CIS but can't deny is dead in Asia and NA

#27
JettEnjoyer
1
Frags
+

You don't understand the things. I will try to explain:

  1. rito style is to manage esports by themselves: control all commercials, tourneys =>>> prize pulls and so on.

  2. Gaben and Volvo don't give a f about cs:go competitive and thats why they gave all rights to 3rd parties.

  3. Private businesses or multiple 3rd parties like ESL and BLAST rely only on product. Coz good product=viewers=sponsors from betting companies.

  4. Rito is monopolist here. Thats why they can't do better product than BLAST or ESL coz commercial money from tournaments is a little shit for such big company as riot. Rito interested in skins coz skins=money.

  5. 3rd parties bussiness is alive only because of good product and sponsors. That's why they will be more effective than riot any day.

#38
uyheehe
1
Frags
+

you dont fully understand the business model. Tournaments are not profitable only for their organizers. A big esports is super beneficial for the game itself, and with 3rd party torunaments that part is neglected since TOs have to make profit at the end of the day. Riot can lose money on events since they know it will come back to them thru ingame purchases. Ofc valorant production so far leaves a lot to be desired, but you can see the budget for these events is thru the roof with content they produce. If they hire more competent organizers (like the league ones) valo events have the potential to be top tier, and for sure better than what we would've gotten with 3rd party TOs

#54
JettEnjoyer
0
Frags
+

The budget in cs:go tourneys and quantity will be always bigger than in Valorant due to:

  1. volvo gave all commercials to 3rd parties=>3rd parties try hard to make best product and money (=sponsors)
  2. rito has 3 LAN events with 700-1mln prize pools. it's the whole valorant budget for competitive scene they can afford.
  3. Cs:go 3rd parties businesses organize multiple LANs with 1mln prize pools without volvo investment. Betting companies sponsorships.
  4. rito policy is against betting companies. That's why organizers like BLAST or ESL don't go to Valorant coz they couldn't make money from tourneys.

In addition to my posts above.

Valorant as a game is bigger than cs:go any day. Because of its huge popularity in NA (biggest market in terms of $$$), Japan (wealth country af), and diverse in other regions like APAC, Brazil, Turkey, EU. Valorant is so popular because it is arguably bestest tac FPS game rn. Literally bestest that's why people and new generation plays.

cs:go numbers are alive only in Brazil, Nordic countries (Denmark, Swedistan, Norway + non nordic Finland and Baltics) and CIS (Russia). The main reason why it's so popular in 3rd world countries is:

  1. Skins market
  2. Betting

Literally betting is all about cs:go. No bet companies, no viewers and sponsors. Skins market is a tool for CIS zoomers to have some $$$ in the pocket. The main reason for popularity is not the basic game itself.

The reason why Nordic play cs is coz they are best nations in this game: Danes and Swedes.

valorant as a game has a bigger reach but that doesn't make it the "bigger" game, CS is currently ahead in prizepool, tournaments as well as the playerbase.

valve focuses on building dedicated communities for its games/esports and riot targets audiences across the globe which results in a lot of casual players who don't care much about the esport side of it.

And the argument that CS is popular just cuz of skins is just stupid, this last major hosted the biggest crowd in any esport event in history and this record will probably be broken by CS again in october

i do not understand the bullshit riot is putting up, there's nothing wrong in letting others organise events like pop flash, jbl cup, pax arena etc etc

it's way better to play in those tournaments and improve the quality of gameplay instead of sitting for months after months streaming ranked after getting eliminated from challengers

in this regard i'd say cs scene is much better, t2 teams who don't qualify for IEM or blast events play in t2 tournaments and they get stronger every year, like look at team spirit this major. those t2 tournaments have decent prizepool too

#56

Organizers don't go to Valorant coz rito policy doesn't allow betting companies as sponsors. Now they doesn't allow crypto sponsors (TSM can't be FTX TSM in rito official tourneys)
Imagine any sports without bet sponsors lmao, football for example. It's bad for TO's and orgs.

#55
Fr1tZ
0
Frags

you should consider challengers 1 prizepool ~1 mil in total from all regions but i agree csgo is way better in e-sports

#57
JettEnjoyer
-2
Frags
+

cs and valo frogs should understand one main thing about rito and Valorant potential.

FTX pays to TSM $10 mln per year. Valorant as brand is 20-100x bigger than TSM' content creation. Imagine if rito allows crypto and betting companies for sponsorships.
Only one contract with FTX is like 10 IEM Colognes by 1 mln prize pool. And we don't consider betting companies and other sponsors.

So, if rito change its policy Valorant will be in the moon and even cs:go couldn't compete coz Valorant is bigger in terms of player base and diversity in all regions + has biggest payable markets: NA, EU, Japan.

I think betting policy is fine, riot dnt want val plague with matchfixing I think

The problem is with tourney third party, outside vct and few tier 2 tourney

Val isnt dnt have enough tourney going on

#59

Watch NA tier 2 scene, it's all about matchfixing. The same will be in tier2 Valorant soon coz no money in regional leagues and no promotion since 2023.

Betting policy and crypto is about commercial sponsorship=huge money for prize pools. You can do match fixing anyday coz companies accept betts even on tier 3 competitions.

All-day long you are talking about betting. Valorant is not CS: GO so, stop comparing it.

Let me tell you one thing, In valorant betting is never going to be as prevalent as it is in CS:GO (until unless Riot wants that to happen)

why not?

Both esports have a very different structures and both work. People on this are speculating things like franchising is going to kill valorant when they don't know shit about franchising.

I know there are a lot of things that need to be improved in valorant esports but the number of international events is not one of them coz 4 international tournament in a year is pretty good imo

not like LCS OR LEC where people care

they just want to watch semi final or playoffs

riot has always has pretty garbage prizepools but thats because majority of money made by players is by salary. since franchising is coming to valorant the salaries will be even more inflated than they are now (esp in NA). im pretty sure the average lcs pro makes around 400k a year. i dont doubt valorant will be the same.

but it is kind of funny seeing some mickey mouse cs tournaments having higher prizepools than some regions' challengers
