Does anyone else think they studied the wrong major at university like me?
my field is modern history
I am currently working as a research assistant but I want to leave sweden and job opportunities are very limited (+ contracts are very short in sweden)
only in turkey there are several universities are open for researchers but im not sure how safe it is there
I got travel banned for 5 years when I tried to fly to Istanbul because immigration officers thought my name (a very common name) matched a criminal who overstayed their VISA. I tried to appeal with my local government in the UK and Turkish authorities were of no help.
This might be a bit personal but
why did you apply to immigrate Turkey?
most likely ill have to move there this summer
I think he means immigration as in airport immigration/customs where every international traveler needs to pass thru to enter the country, not as in actually moving residence to turkey
Immigration officers check your right to enter the country + relevant documents
you're probably doing quite well in the field if you manage to be a research assistant, is it ok if i ask why you think it might be wrong?
ah ok, honestly this one is a hard one because younger you probably didn't understand money so well
Actually I had planned to study marketing but my high school teacher said I had a talent for history and that I should pursue it. In the end I was persuaded
In most countries, its not as unsafe as u think as long as you don’t cause trouble. As for your major, its not the best for employment opportunities, but outside of researching, you can also try journalism and maybe content creation(very competitive) on the side. I hope the best for you, goodluck!!!!
yeah i sometimes have that stuff when im studying wait oops im dumb im not 20+
I want change majors to civil engineering and currently at first sem computer science is this seems right choice?
Well it's cuz my whole family civil engineering graduate, not cause i like engineering stuff i just questioned my life atp and im not sure prospect of computers science since it's replaced by AI and oversupply atleast here (it's dumb reason but ik)
if you're seriously considering it, the best method to see is probably to check out some basic courses' content from the major and see if you might actually be interested, but it kind of hard, otherwise probably for now you can also think if like high school physics that includes mechanics like forces and torque plus high school chemistry (in this case I have no clue since I didn't do civil eng specifically) interests you
plenty of people actually finish civil engineering in uni but job switch to become a software engineer or data scientist later on (though they prob dont intentionally do that at first)
im 24 and i will finish uni next year and i dont regret my choice at all tbh
I changed majors went from medicine to software engineering but I worked at companies in between of everything of swapping for 2 years I'm 22 now and I work while chasing the degree in my free time.
i finished college and im still not sure i made the right decision lol its normal
19 and currently on econ but i like it even though its really a hard work maybe in some point you will regret it
Yes.
I took psychology on a whim.
Should have trusted my gut and take eco.
100%
Just went back and did another one while working part time after I found out that Id be miserable otherwise
hello...
i have two degrees... comp sci and AI development...
its all about what you want for the future and what you enjoy...
if it doesnt feel right... that is normal...
do what you are interested in... it isnt high school... you can choose what you want to study... whatever interests you...
me personally... i like computer systems and ai training... and im using it for assistance in medical research...
Is it true that all comp sci students have highly developed paranoid shizophrenia?
i dont regret taking science (yet atleast lol) but i sometimes wish i did more bio than physics. but the world is very inter disciplinary now and im still able to do what i like :]
I do feel regret of not doing chemistry as major in engineering because I was really interested in nuclear chemistry
I want to do something that doesn't require a degree so yeah, sometimes I do wish I picked something easy like business, I'm lowkey just getting a degree for the sake of getting one
Yes, wasted 2 years on comp sci when I don't want to do anything with it
Somedays I feel for both my degree majors weren’t what I wanted to study on other days the pay and career growth makes me feel like it wasn’t a bad choice.
Oh yeah studied the wrong course, finished the wrong degree, and now working as an engineer on a ship. I dont like my job, but I learned how to accept and just drag myself through it. If I could rewind my life though I would redo my choice of profession. I finished marine engineering. Im 28 now btw
how do u even play valorant as an engineer on a ship? is ur setup on the ship or back home
I play once I get home, but even after not playing for around 6 months my aim usually comes back after a few days.
Currently in econ and while not really enjoying it, I’ve learned to accept it
