Hello ppl
Does anyone have any tips for college in general?
And extra question - does anyone have any tips for collegiate val im thinking of running it for fun
I said it on other thread and i'il say it here too. As someone who recently graduated college, just do the most things and meet the post people you can. Even things you think you dislike, you might end up liking it. Unless its something you reeeeeally don't want to do or dangerous, never say no to anything. It's better to regret doing things than to regret not doing them and being young is just to be ever changing, you probably will be a completely different person at the end of it so you might as well just experiment a lot
Im still working at my internship but i'il probably leave in a few weeks when they finally process my diploma (i graduated like three weeks ago) and then i'il be oficially unemployed so i'm already looking for something lol
In the meantime i'm doing some personal projects and taking some time from studying, maybe will apply to a masters degree in 2026-27
i played collegiate val and still might this semester. If you want to go somewhere in valorant, it's almost entirely useless other than for getting some experience playing with a team. There is a ridiculously large skill gap to the point where most of the teams you play against are either gold/plat or high immo/radiant with very little in between except for a few asc teams (in my experience). It's great for making friends and having some fun and doesn't take up too much time unless your captain is anal about prac. Also if you have the chance to go to lan it is so fun so I would recommend it tbh.
Introduce yourself to everyone and try to make friends with everyone, especially the first few weeks. Go out all the time and make connections. This is probably the single most important part of the college experience
Internships, Internships, Internships. If that wasn't clear, let me repeat: INTERNSHIPS, INTERNSHIPS, INTERNSHIPS. Apply early. You do not want to be graduating with no work experience in your field. One more time: INTERNSHIPS, INTERNSHIPS, INTERNSHIPS
Time Management: You will have a seemingly unbelievable amount of free time. This new freedom is great, but it puts the onus on you. Unless you are taking some ungodly amount of units, you will have more than enough time to study and keep your grades up, its honestly not even that hard UNLESS you are somebody who does not have the discipline to set aside some time to get their shit done. Get your shit done (study, HW, etc) early and don't procrastinate, and your life will be 10x easier.
Dont fuck around with midterms (and they come at you quick), start prepping at least 2 weeks prior. DO NOT CRAM and you should be fine
Know how to put on a condom (this applies if your a girl too btw)
Keep 1-2 pedialytes/gatorades on standby in a minifridge or wherever (thank me later)
Talk to people! Go to the club fairs, events, shows, etc.
MAKE SURE OF YOUR REQUIREMENTS ALWAYS. I almost missed one my senior year.
Always keep a small snack in your room.
When you do your laundry, put a timer on your phone so you don't forget it.
Professors are actually extremely chill and they'll be a lifeline for you, get to know them.
Try to get off campus to study if you can!
And actually do the readings. Classes revolve around readings and it is painfully obvious who hadn't done it.
Have fun, be safe, make good decisions!
Sincerely, Liz <3 Class of 2021 College
be early to register for your classes and get your homework done early as well, it'll leave you with a lot less stress and much more free time that you can use to take advantage of what your college has to offer if you want to join any extracurriculars or anything like that. college is definitely a period where you have a lot of room to explore new avenues, whether it be socially, academically, or occupationally, so don't be afraid to make mistakes. best of luck!
set loud, beeping alarms to do your homework, if you have many classes with inconsistent homework schedules, it's easy to forget to do them if left unchecked
actually attend class, pay attention to lectures, and take notes
use blurt method for studying
get involved in groups and activities, especially major-related ones
Advocate for yourself (especially to professors). If there’s an opportunity you want, ask around! The worst they can say is no.
