Not even the biggest fan but it’s so sad how much hate he’s getting
I swear it’s always the least problematic people like yay, Aspas, tenz that get so much hate when they underperform

If mibr were playing well and Aspas was shitting the bed it’s understandable but he’s only underperforming since mibr have been (they’ve been getting shit on like 6 matches in a row)

Someone definitely about to say derke never fell off, but derke looked worse than Aspas in stage 1 because vit was worse than mibr. Now mibr is definitely worse than vit and derke is outperforming Aspas. It’s a team game

100% this is just a fact look at bleed last year lol all of those players when on the team together looked terrible but outside of bleed most are having some success and look so much better.

It’s just annoying when you try to explain how team matters and people bring up how chronicle, derke, or Alfajer never fell off when they have always historically been in good teams. Aspas form now is similar to chrons form in 2022 for an example.

yeah both alfajer and derke are the most glazed players for consistency when they in large part spent their career on 1 team in 1 system. they both had slumps in individual form but bc their team still was good ppl dont remember. everyone during toronto was acting like alfa was the best player ever for having a insane tournament but forgot he was their worst performer to qualify its really strange how people pick and choose narratives.

It’s absolutely hilarious how much shit Alfajer got in stage 1
People were calling for him to be dropped every time fnc lost, Toronto happened and he’s now the best player in the world. He struggled first 2 matches at Toronto too
If he was on a shit team, he never would have gotten that opportunity to redeem himself

completely agree its the nature of val schedule bad teams dont get any time to develop.

W uncleben take.
System matters more than the player in many cases.
A good player in bad systems will struggle even if they have potential, and good systems can make mediocre players draw out their fullest potentials.

EG 23 and t1 25 rosters are some good examples of this, on the flip side fnatic 2024 (with Leo) and sen 2023 are some examples too.

Good example as in their player form fluctuating?

#39
Uncleben

Frags

Yes, and and also how much systems make players
Outside of eg 23, only jawg has looked good. Outside of t1, only meteor and buzz have looked good.

Fnc with Leo, derke, Chron, and Alfa struggled more than when they replaced Leo with hiro. Sentinels with tenz, Zekken, grand finals mvp sacy, and champs mvp pancada struggled.

I’d add less to that too, he hasn’t looked as impressive on VIT as he did on LOUD with his only standout game being vs TL in kickoff

I have a hot take that less actually has fell off and gotten worse and it’s not just the system, but the system definitely doesn’t help
We will see when he leaves vit

pretty sure the team is dead bro. this level of regression is not normal unless the vibes are just fucked.

#5

If it wasn’t dead it definitely is now
They were always quiet even when they were good, you can tell the comms are almost silent
Wouldn’t be surprised if Verno just gets benched midway through split of his own accord

i don’t even understand where’s all this hate came from fr

#7

It’s fucking insane how every single time he plays people just spam statspas, call him a horrible player, etc etc
There’s pro players who are shit people (or have been accused of it) in real life that get no where near that amount of hate

if only they were fair criticisms... I see a lot of absurd opinions here, some are just pure hate, i know some people just want to seek attention here, but I really don't understand, he's probably one of the most hated players in the scene AND I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY BRO

#18

It’s the same shit that happens with yay and tenz too
People have genuine hatred over fucking professional video game players it’s insane
I swear the worst thing you can do in this game is be actually good, it’s all the players one step below GOAT level that get all the love because they are “underrated”

yay and tenz don't deserve the hate, the hate mostly comes from their unbearable fans who know jack shit about the scene and only watch them

still doesn't justify it but yeah that's where it's coming from

#23

I understand that, but it’s still really sad to see it happen to Aspas too (as a fan of yay)

never understood, as washed aspas might get I'd never switch up on him because I've learned so many jett tech from him it's crazy

1 - He is popular and is rated highly by the community and the players as the best or one of the best ever

2 - Some people get offended that aspas gets rated higher by the community than their favorite players for no reason

3 - They hate on aspas to bring his name down to the dirt

Its weird because everyone that meets aspas IRL, players, coaches, fans, says he is a chill nice guy and very humble, but everytime he plays there are masses of people just waiting for him to make a mistake or lose the game to clown on him. I dont see any other active player that gets this extreme treatment

while the teamplay was horrendous, i feel like others had expectations similar to myself that aspas would be able to bring it back. i mean look at LEV last year, this guy carried his dysfunctional team all the way from kickoff to stage 1 until the rest of his team started picking it up.

no hate, i guess i just had higher expectations for my GOAT. if anything, im hoping he finds some of his old confidence and brings it back later.

Was lev really dysfunctional? Com has great supportive utility, Mazino is a genuinely incredible flex player when he has a good team, king’s calling is mid but his fragging was great last year too. Tex struggled but was able to adapt to sentinel role well too.
I agree Aspas is falling off a bit but genuinely if you put any other player here and I think there struggling too.

if you look at LEV before that game against SEN in stage 1, they were absolutely dysfunctional. the points you mentioned really started coming into effect when those players gained a massive boost in confidence from 2-0'ing the recent masters winners, i mean even in that game aspas had to drop an obscene amount of kills to get past SEN.

If the team is underperforming, doens't that also fall on Aspas?

He is not only the star player, but he also is the one who made the team and recruited everyone but Verno.

we aren’t talking about fairly criticism here, bro he’s just got spammed hate from everywhere

#15

It should fall on him and everyone else on mibr
But people are shitting on him specifically
If the team is struggling so badly and everyone is taking solo fights, Aspas is just stuck on eco weapons or rotating or with no util half the time, peeking into a stack
Not exactly the recipe for a good performance

#24

How many people were talking about the “aspas effect” when mibr was doing good?

He got credit for the entire teams success and now he gets the blame for the fall

#27
Uncleben
0
Frags

People still shat on him when mibr was doing good, saying he was baiting or statspas, and verno and artzin (for calling) also got a lot of credit. The only time people were saying he was carrying was on lev (a bit unjustified) and mibr pre verno, where he kinda was hard carrying

#30
Yuniee44

Aspas certainly got most of the credit, and theres plenty of threads clowning on Verno now too lol. People overestimate his impact on the team and it goes both ways.

#31
Uncleben

Frags

I agree people overestimate his impact, but it doesn’t justify invalid criticism/hate either. The people that glaze him that much usually are mibr fans/Brazilian fans, while people hating on him are nearly everyone else. I understand the point ur making is that the same way popular players get unjustified credit, they also get unjustified hate but I still don’t think it’s acceptable.
I personally never felt like Aspas carried mibr (with Verno) and CERTAINLY not loud (despite that being a real narrative at points during 22/23)

#42
Yuniee44

I dont mean to justify any hate, this is just what happens. Some players are just polarising like this and people take the first chance they get to either praise them to heaven or blame everything on them. I think its whack that aspas is faulted for mibr looking rough rn but i also think it was whack when people ignored how much the new mibr talent provided during split 1, or how people came for Riens head for being slightly critical towards him.

VCT fan math is when someone is called one of the best players of all time, they must never have a bad game or a stretch of bad games in their career. If they do, they're washed and deserve to retire for the atrocities they committed in that bad stretch.

I used to think it was childish of accomplished players to break down after losing a championship to someone else despite being hella decorated. But now I realise why they do that. People just don't give them a break.
