Every team in the region played one match this week, and while most teams remained as strong as they looked in their Kickoff tournament, the regional tournament during Masters Bangkok gave all teams some experience heading into Stage 1.

Only two of the first six games went the distance, with four sweeps in the other matches. EDward Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, and Trace Esports all won their expected matchups to start their Stage 1 run well, but Wolves' first win in VCT 2025 over JDG could have some further regional consequences.

JDG's weakness recently has been Wolves. In the China Evolution Series tournament during Masters Bangkok, Wolves swept JDG 2-0 on the way to a grand final loss to Nova Esports. Then, weeks later, Wolves swept JDG for the second time in 2025.

Juicy wins a thrifty to help Wolves defeat JDG.

Juicy was a star in week one, playing only Yoru but ending with 44 kills and 280 ACS in Stage 1 to help Wolves start hot in the regular season. Other stars in week one include ZmjjKK , who remains one of the best Duelists alive, as well as Kai , who helped Trace secure a close 2-1 series win.

Another result of note was Nova Esports losing to Dragon Ranger Gaming. While both DRG and Nova have always been competitive teams regionally, Nova won the CES tournament dominantly over Wolves but wasn't able to keep that form up in week one of VCT China 2025 Stage 1.

With the first week done, FPX, EDG, and DRG lead Group Alpha with a win each, while Wolves Esports, Trace Esports, and Bilibili Gaming lead Group Omega.
