Genuine Questions about the tier 2 casters referring to the players with they/their pronouns...

Since referring to Clove with she/her pronouns is misgendering them, how is the reverse also not misgendering?

Most the players go by he/him, so isn't referring to them as they/them misgendering as well?

someone explain

I thought one of the players were non-binary they them is gender neutral unless a player specifically asked to be referred to as he/him or she/her.

also plural, which means that now we can't now if we are talking about a singular person or multiple, nicely done.

It definitely is. But you know they are straight so they don’t get offended by it. Even if someone calls me she I wouldn’t care about it. I don’t take pride in my identity that much

Ok tell me this, if a biological female chose to use the pronouns He/Him and I knew about this and they knew I knew about this but I still kept on calling him they, wouldn’t they ask me to use their pronouns?

I agree (with the first 3 words) it's just lowkey annoying to hear since linguisticly they/them refers to multiple people

#14

I mean idc if someone wants to be referred as they/them. But it’s annoying how easily people get offended for being misgendered. It shouldn’t even be that serious that people get cancelled over it

No one is getting cancelled for accidentally misgendering someone, you can tell when it’s an accident. Most of the time is on purpose to provoke a reaction.

it’s misgendering the players as being gender fluid which they aren’t. however in reality no one should give a fuck.

yah it's not that I would take offense or get offended for them, it's just annoying to hear since they/them typically refers to multiple people

"They" has literally been a singular personal pronoun since the 1300s, where shakespear was using it to refer to characters of unknown gender. You're a fucking idiot if you think that a word can't have multiple definitions.

I know it can that is why I said "typically"

no need to get mad

#21

It's used in both cases frequently. saying that one happens more and therefore the other shouldn't happen doesn't make sense. Bear is used more to describe the animal than to describe someone holding something, but that doesn't mean that that usage is invalid/shouldn't be used.

#23

never once said the other shouldn't happen just because the other one is used. Didn't say it was invalid either. Just said it sticks out to me when the casters say it. Personally it sticks out to me when it's used, cause it sounds grammatically incorrect. Not saying it is used incorrectly, again just that my ear catches it cause it sounds incorrect.

"it's annoying to hear" suggests that you think that "they" shouldn't be used in the singular form.

they is a pronoun which does not refer to gender. That's the whole point. It's not fucking misgendering, they is simply a neutral pronoun without a gender attached. People who do not associate with either gender often choose to go by only they because they don't associate with the male or female genders.
