Yes except distances is also in how long it takes to get there, and cooking sometimes uses metric too

Think it’s normal for people drive more in NA, and people care more about how long it’ll take them to reach point B from point A which could either be a straight route or require them to go through traffic or other headaches.

It’s just easier and more practical for people over long distances since people aren’t going to care about the actual distance but how much of a time investment that they need to factor into their schedule.

Edit: For walking and biking I’m sure they’ll think more in actual miles / kilometers since you have to exert much more effort there like marathons/triathlons.
