Recommended me actual godtier manga thats not mainstream or widely known like ravages of time and one outs
player (manhwa)
decently grounded and well executed spin on the power fantasy & "dungeon" korean media tropes. close to being finished
Usuzumi no Hate
post apocalyptic series. monthly but it does a good job with the pacing
Someone Hertz
cutest thing I've read in a while. weekly shoujo
Read the monogatari series. It got adapted to mange from a in light novel and is goated. anime is goated too.
so bakemonogatari is the only manga to the monogatari series but it has more arcs than the anime version of bakemonogatari. i read the first few chapters but then i completely stopped reading manga. So if you want the complete content, you'll have to switch to Light Novel which is much more dialogue heavy and true essence of Monogatari series. Though the anime does it justice as well. As for reading or watch order I go with the release order for light novel and Bakemonogatari>Kizumonogatari> release order for anime/movies. Though if you can read japanese and are vary with the culture, you'll be able to experience to true essence of a series like this. But the art and action in manga is chef's kiss
alright, well if you're in the mood for romance, 'Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You' is a great one that i heavily recommend
Act Age, the creator got arrested for being a freak so it's unfinished but it's one of the best manga I've ever read it's so fucking good
Ts was peak, clears that bum ass manga/anime oshi no ko all day of the week
I like OnK but the ending lowk ruined my perception of it but OnK and Akane Banashi are the only manga that've given me the same feeling of Act Age.
Shinigami ni Sodaterareta Shoujo wa Shikkoku no Tsurugi o Mune ni Idaku /Death's Daughter and the Black Blade
if you like war and gore(mc is cute)
The Witch and the Beast, Claymore, Gantz all three mid anime but amazing manga
I really liked Claymore. Based on those recs, I bet you'd also like Nausicaä, Dorohedoro, and Witch Hat Atelier!
i actually read Dorohedoro already i didnt love any of the characters but i thought it was one of the most complete and well though out worldbuilding very good. Ive been meaning to get to the Nausicaä manga ive seen the movie and Witch Hat Atelier just dropped its anime which ur probably aware of i will prob watch it thnx for the reply 💪🐐
The nausicaä manga is leagues better than the movie!! The movie doesn't even cover any of volume 2, which has the most potent themes and revelations of the whole series. The presentation is a lot more intense but that feeds strongly into the antiwar messages. It my favorite manga bar none (the fact it has awesome aircraft is a huge point in its favor too!)
I watched Gantz and wrote it off as pretty shit. Years later I read the manga and you are right, it is way better
Okayyyy my time to shine:
Fire Punch (traumatising banger)
Dokumushi (horribly dark manga)
Deadtube (horribly dark manga #2)
Jigokuraku (jjk + csm but better and shorter in an older time period. farrrrr better than demon slayer)
Horimiya (the simplest shoujo + slice of life i've read. it's simplicity makes it my fav shoujo)
Onimiya (gender-bender that i read for fun, basically brainrot killer)
Kill-la-Kill (fun parody of isekai mangas)
Tensei-shitara-slime-datta-ken (Tensura for short) (Isekai)
Death Parade
Tokyo Ghoul
Konosubarashi (personally enjoyed the light novels more, but manga is incomplete for now)
Trapped in a dating-sim, the world of otome games is tough for mobs (one of my most enjoyable and guilty pleasures of a manga)
Now these aren't manga but i loved them as a manga and light novel fan:
Shadow Slave (#1 Light novel in the market. undboutedly the greatest of all time)
Lord of the mysteries (if u like SS then u hate Lotm and vice versa)
Reverend Insanity (fang yuan)
Tensura Light Novel (web novel is kinda trash so the Ln is better)
forgot the name but Subaru, Emilia, Rem, Ram light novel. A Big W for readers with good attention span.
Deadtube kind of reminds me of rent a girlfriend in that you start reading it because it has an intriguing premise but then as you read more you start to see it go down hill and then you either stop reading cause you realize it's bad or you keep reading and realize it's never going to get better but still continue reading to see just how bad it can get.
it's even worse tbh because it goes from bad horror to shitty battle seinen. at least rent a girlfriend sticks to the whole fake romance stuff to the end. deadtube tries to be a billion different things at once and fails miserably at all of them
there's no way you think rent a girlfriend has an interesting premise 😭 art is dead
I more meant it starts off with an intriguing premise rather than it actually having an interesting premise. Like for the first few chapters its like "oh this could go somewhere interesting" and then quickly after those initial chapters it goes to "Fuck everyone in this stupid ass manga and I hope they all end up alone and on the streets."
Shadow slave is really that good that its over both lotm and ri? Can u elaborate on why? Haven't read ss waiting it to be finished
in my opinion ss isnt even close to lotm in terms of quality.
the start of ss is good but later on some things started to really annoy me, to the point i dropped it around the antarctica arc (around chapter 1000). i wont go into details to avoid spoilers but i think lotm is much better
SS is the most popular light novel in the world....by far rounding off thrice the amount of reviews views compared to the next 2 novels (Lotm and RI) combined.
your opinion might be different but that doesn't take away from how good the novel is.
where did you get those numbers?
and even if SS is the most popular that doesnt prove much.
WebNovel (the platform SS is published on) is popular as hell and still a complete mess.
so yeah SS can be popular but that doesnt automatically make it better than other novels or invalidate my criticism.
just by active readers you'll know that ss is far more popular
shadow slave: 120k active readers
2nd 3rd and 4th are:
supreme magus with 50k
reverend insanity with 40k
lotm with 32k
so yea SS surpasses all three combined, mostly because SS is still ongoing and RI + Lotm are (banned and completed)
and yes i did say "your opinion might be different"
active readers only measure who is reading right now not overall popularity. of course an ongoing novel will have more active readers than one thats finished or banned.
its like comparing a weekly airing show to a completed one the one still releasing will naturally have more people following it.
and you still didnt answer my question. can you send the link where you got those numbers?

Lotm set a record for peak active readers at 100k but then it was calculated that pirated sites included: SS has 200k+ active readers during it's peak at antarctica arc, whereas Lotm's Lightseeker peaked at 170k.
sources given above.
from what i understand your main source is WebNovel right?
you do realize thats a metric that heavily favors SS. LOTM is a chinese novel and wasnt originally published on WebNovel so most of its readers arent even there.
meanwhile SS is a western novel thats published directly on WebNovel so of course its going to have higher numbers on that platform.
It is good especially the first 2 volumes read that first then you'll get addicted
Yess I'd caught up to it when G3 was just completing the Great Nightmare gate in antarctica. It's still really good and gives off that lonely, peaceful that Lotm just can't.
Ehhh look the arcs in SS from a personal standpoint of Sunny show a different outlook on his life every time:
Arc 1: courting death to wanting to be the anti-hero to a murderer haunted by harper to a mad psychopath
Arc 2: now that he's a citizen he wants to be the hero of his sister
Arc 3: Conviction
Arc 4: Loneliness even when ur close to the one who u want
i won't spoil much but Lotm gives a "machinery vibe" of london 1800s when industrialisation took place but there was also a lot of victorian shame and witchcraft superstitions, whereas RI's protag gives the vibe of the main character actually being a good person but an asshole and edgelord (and RI is on the chinese "wuxia" novelbase which is why i don't like it as much)
SS is completely different in the fact that it's set in the modern world which is being eaten away at by the nightmare spell (which is an ancient eldritch horror). plus the world building of SS is extremely detailed without info dumps and lore-drops in every chapter.
you basically know about the forgotten shore, the hollow mountains, nether's castle, chained isles, bastion, jade palace, the lost treasure of storms city, demon of repose's eternal city, heart forest.
there's just so much to like about the novel.
blue period
I think even if you're not interested in art, the story pulls you in and it's a really enjoyable manga to read. and its not main stream
I'll mention a manhwa - boxer
Its a bit on the nose with the symbology but it's a good read
Try this underrated manga :
Manhwa :
Manhua :
Im planning to read top tier providence and maybe read the webnovel along with it also, is it worth time spent tho?
My wife is from 1000 years ago is actually the best chill romance manga/mahwa/manhua tho ngl, that shit is peak
Yo how has no one said Real by Inoue, genuinely one of the greatest ever written. I cried maybe 15 times reading it.
Nausicaä by Miyazaki is also incredible; the manga is far more powerful than the movie imo.
if only we got a better ToG anime adaptation.. i haven't read it since the hiatus in 2020
blame!
and
ajin-demi human
this is true ball knowledge you probably have never heard of these mangas
ajin is very good, I've read it like 3 times. I also liked The Bugle Call - Song of War, you should read that if you haven't
Kingdom is really popular sales wise but i never see or hear about it online and its amazing
ajin if you want something supernatural
out, crows, worst, nine peaks because i love delinquents mangas
tsuyoshi is a really fun manga
if you want to read manwha i would recommend sweet home and shotgun boy, and bastard from the same author
Some personal faves:
Beck
Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest
Historie
Land of the Lustrous
Magus of the Library
