it is arguably the most complete ranked kit: very selfish util + some team util + less punished for dying = permanent ranked game impact
however, there is a massive difference between being good for ranked vs being good in general
yoru pre nerf was way more broken than clove, but his winrate was lower because you still need to know how to play yoru well and think properly to get good value, clove is just braindead easy with such a low skill floor that you can literally not think and just shoot after smokes drop
if you play clove you can always have high impact easily: you can anchor, you can smoke, you can second entry easily, you can lurk while maintaining full value, and after all that if you die you can still have impact with more smokes
