This is correct, I have reasonings for each placement upon request. These reasonings stem from more than just trophies and results.
if you want to know the placement of anyone not on this list then you can ask.

#1 Boaster

#2: Valyn

#3: FNS

#4: Saadhak
#5: nAts
#6: JohnQT
#7: Ange1
#8: Munchkin
#9: Starxo
#10: Redgar

Honorable mentions:
Shahzam: Came from a decent CS career, Took an OW player (sinatraa), an apex legends player (Zombs), and with 2 ex-teammates won a majority of early NA events.
Ethan: 2x world champ with tier 2 rookies and mada who I don't count as a rookie with his experience.
Bonecold: Name me ONE meta comp from before that man retired I bet you 5 bucks he made it. Nobody had a better meta read than that man on acend.

Ethan is already above redgar starxo munchkin ange1 at least, just from a year of bonkar

Ethan is not top 10 IGLs, Most of NRG's strats and calling came from bonkar and not him. Bro is top 3 overall players OAT though. I'd say around the middle of the 11-15 range.

but you understand that ethan is the one calling and making decisions during the game, right? as an igl, execution is more important than being the one who came up with things first
he's not some brainless parrot of bonkar

Yeah I worded that wrong, I do understand he is the leader. Once I see more results outta ethan he'll makes this list easy, it's js too early in his IGL career for me to confidently say he's one of the All time goats

Valyn no.2? Starxo higher than the guy that IGLed him? Ethan an honourable mention when he's at least no.6? JohnQT being mentioned at all???

nice ragebait kiddo

Ethan only started IGling this year, Bonkar was the major mind behind NRG's champs win. He's already one of the best players of all time in general so he's already got that.

Starxo went from world champ, to tier 2 standout, to a tier 1 team of 3 rookies he'd never played with before and marteen. Then brought them to an international and got top 8 on their debut season.
Bonecold won the dinosuar trophy, was fine on Vitality for a while, then retired before he was ever relevant again.

JohnQT because of him pioneering the senti IGL role and the fact that merely his addition brought a decent SEN team to a Masters trophy.
(Yes, FNS also played senti, but he did switch to Initiator later on as the meta shifted away from senti's on igl. JohnQT stayed on an unorthodox role and still got 2nd at ascension with a mid team and secured a masters trophy.)

Valyn and FNS are extremely close on this list, I only decided on valyn because He's been more consistent through the years and has a higher mechanical skill than FNS did.

Best IGL all time can't qualify reliably to events from the worst region in the world with Alfajer on his team

sure buddy

This man was at almost every event up until very recently when they lost their star duelist, downgraded their flex player, and lost their Amazing scans player.

Even before he had chron, leo, or alfa. Boaster was still able to lead a team with MISTIC, DOMA, AND MAGNUM to a 5th place at champs. Those were dogshit players that didnt deserve to make that champs run even with how new the game was.
Was able to call his team back from 11-3 after going undefeated at lock//in (Alfajer was the most tilted player out of everyone)
and then proceeded to become the first and so far only team to win 2 internationals in a row.

Your GOAT discussion would be different 3 years ago than it is now, so yes, it is an atp discussion. With all of the years that valorant has existed, who has had the strongest run as an IGL with all the years of valorant that have existed. Ethan was a mid round caller, won a year, and won champs as an IGL. Valyn's definitely up there, but it doesn't matter if u haven't won. Ig we'll see who's better depending on who wins this event.

Ethan has been igl for a half year on a middling roster and then another half year on a roster that won champs. All the other players on the list have proven their importance and skill as an igl way more than he has

Watch Ethan win this tournament. Ethan is a 2x winner as midrounder/IGL, I don't wanna hear it.

You might as well say bonkar is the best igl
If ethan was that good at igling. Idk what happened to nrg 24 and early nrg 25, only after bonkar really logged on did nrg and ethan turn up and win

how could nats possibly have snuck into this list hes like a top 20 IGL if we’re talking about purely calling

#28
Kronosxd

top is a stretch we could see how easily his calls were getting read and dismantled here in santiago, he put up a good showing against emea but it felt more so like heavy antistrat than mid round calling

don’t grt me wrong the dude is good and like as a sentinel probably top 5 in the world but his calling isnt worthy of being even top 15 and im being generous with top 20

#14 just barely beat out by bonecold. He was iconic, but when the peak of your rosters under your leadership nets you a max of 6th place (aside from this year) then you don't make top 10. Most of his strats were strange or funnily enough copied from bonecold's playbook.

#25

Ethan HAS to be in there. You can't only give credit to Bonkar, since we consistently saw Ethan (without timeouts) outcall Boaster in the Champions GF. As much as I think trophies don't count for everything, he has to be top 10 imo

#27

I'm gonna go ahead and quote one of the sane people in this thread really quick bc I dont wanna explain this again

You might as well say bonkar is the best igl
If ethan was that good at igling. Idk what happened to nrg 24 and early nrg 25, only after bonkar really logged on did nrg and ethan turn up and win

#30
Wolfed

Frags

are you aware that bonkar was literally the coach for nrg during early '25? what did he do then?

even if bonkar taught ethan how to igl, that still makes ethan the good igl. ethans calling during champs was top tier, undeniably. he was legit toying with FNC on corrode and lotus. you can not deny that bonkar is the mastermind behind nrg, but you also can not deny that ethan calls well consistently despite talking to his coach max. 4x per game

#31
Vyse-Fan_In-more-than-one

Frags

I mean...
The protocols bonkar has drilled in allows ethan to frag out easily.
My opinion
Bonkar is the macro igl, giving the overall antistrat for the team and how to play on the round gradient scale
Ethan is the micro igl doing all the little things in a round like he was doing back in 23's eg

#32
Wolfed
1
Frags
+

but do you actually know that? or is that just your guess

i genuinely implore you to go watch lotus of the champs gf against fnc. youll see what i mean - ethan was able to pull rotations incredibly well, on the fly

#34
Vyse-Fan_In-more-than-one
0
Frags
+

That is what i call a micro igl move
Calling rotates, sure its good but it isnt a macro igl move

#36
Wolfed
1
Frags
+

you can call it that but it is igl'ing regardless and deserves credit when well done, no? do you disagree?

if you call creating strats and anti-strats "in game leading" then most coaches clear the list above.........

I'd put Ethan in top 10 with how decorated he is. I like that FNS is #3. We meme him but his game sense is how he managed to get into 3 grand finals in his career.

#42

Are you chopped? What is this dumb argument against ethan? It's head coach, assistant coach and analyst's job to come up with strats, anti-strats and protocols. This came out of FNS's mouth. He himself said he is rarely the one spending time in custom to come with strats.

#44
Vyse-Fan_In-more-than-one

Anti strats is an IGL move mid game

#45
Stinger
0
Frags

No it not wtf? Do you even watch VCT? Anti-strat is does before the game which also includes using specific comp to counter. Do you think teams can change comp mid match or something? What you are referring to is mid game adjustment like NRG adapting to DRX's Waylay Yoru double dive mid game which is both IGL's and Coach's job. Why do you think time out exists?
