we guys are very lucky to be witnessing the regional parity and actually get competitive teams from each region, val might have many problems but we all are blessed to not be witnessing domination of a region an have one of the best esports with actually good storylines

I wouldn’t call Shitmea on par with other regions. Haven’t won a trophy in 2 years 😭

Well its not like theyre completely out of the game like western regions in league. They still made 6/9 grand finals in the franchising league

idk whether you are a hater or not, but in these 2 years emea had 4/6 final appearances with 3 of them going 2-3 and 1 being 1-3 but its not like they didn't give a fight

esports in 2010-2015 were still fundamentally flawed anyway, the current situation of old esports like cs, league, and dota are the result of their years of bad decisions. it make sense for valorant to learn better than this since its a newer game, balance and harmony is important.

the current situation of more sustainable esports?

The way valorant is currently set up is not sustainable. Tier 2 is half-baked and Tier 3 barely exists. Orgs and players are leaving.

Valorant should LEARN from other esports

I think val lacks on storylines rn maybe cuz still its pretty new compared to LoL esports but yes regional parity in Val is miles better

we do have threads of it at least, with Fnatic and Aspas constantly making it far in Champs for an example.

Riot might kill south east asia and south america
For example, cut off the regeneration of tier 2 players with Soop. For long term, it's gonna be Korea (achievement), Japan (hype), and North America (both achievement and hype)

It just is only EU though basically. Just because like 3 countries outside of Europe also play it doesn’t mean that it isn’t fundamentally an EU only Esport

Nah it was only ever a big game and esports in na and Korea so ig you can guess what happened to it. Yeah Korea dominates that game. Tbh the game and esports are both dying already too.

To be fair I blame Riot for lack of diversity in LoL, they created a nightclub paradox by giving so many slots to Korea and China and neglecting minor region...

#22
Pomshies

Frags

They could give 20 slots to minor regions and 2 slots to Korea/China and we would still be in the same situation

#27

this argument is braindead

#29

Yes in short term, no in long term, more game in international event will make them better on the long run.

#32
Pomshies

Frags

Yes long term also. Riot gave NA and EU almost the same number of slots as KR and China for years and the gap between them only grew in the meantime. What makes you think giving slots to minor regions with comparatively tiny playerbases would change anything?

#36

Riot gave NA and EU the same number of slots as KR and China for years

Yeah, and the gap was waaaay less close at this time, when was last time an NA team beat a KR team in BO5 ? 2018, 2020 was the end of 3 slot for all.

Best repartition is probably : 3/3/3/3/2/2, with 2 slot maximum for Taiwan (one have to go to either JP or VN)

Also, after the 2018 Korean fiasco, giveone slot to KR, and they may end with too many pressure and fumble the sameway AF did in 2018

its a series of riot's bad decisions. for example like giving third client garena permission to manage SEA region in early days killed the entire region. if its used a steam client, league wouldve been popular in so many minor regions.

The garena contract killed the potential in APAC

everyone giving praise to riot as if they magically made this all happen when its mostly because the game is just fundamentally not very hard to play if u have fps experience, this game saved multiple peoples career who were eternal lower tier players in their previous games

#39

Frags

Bruh, Riot are definitely responsible for it. They gave same slots for all regions. They constantly refresh the meta which is the primary reason not one single team can stay at the top for even a full year

#40
asdfgh
0
Frags

"they gave the same slots for all regions" why are u acting like this is some revolutionary policy bro,so many esports do this at the start and almost all ability based games have constant meta changes throughout the season, you are just not aware because they didnt end up like valorant

i still dont fully understand where the profit is in esports outside of gambling/crypto sponsors, like photocards of johnqt, cubert plushies and yt views arent enough surely

#42

Riot doesn't really make profit in esports. It's like advertising material for their game. They do make money but not profit and they use that money back into the esports to keep it afloat. So basically as long as the game isn't dead the esports will be alive.
Also revenue for managing esports comes from sponsors, merch sales (skin sales) etc.

Orgs survive with incentives riot provides them from skin sales and from merch sales.

They make insane money on bundles. Riot made like I think 35+ million USD last year from champs bundle alone and 40+ this year

#45

good for them then, i didnt like how reliant esports orgs were on crypto/gambling sponsors i mean we kinda saw the effects of this with c9 in 2023 i think as well as eg and to a lesser extent sen getting broke

I think Riot still plans on introducing gamba to VAL
