No, I don’t think any famous gamers are well known by people not into gaming in the US.

agree - no americans know valorant players, unless they encounter tenz and kyedae from collabs with other twitch streamers (most people dont watch twitch either)

not really. the game is big in indo but i think there are less people interested in the e-sports scene.

but many times I saw Indo peoples are crazy in case of MLBB esports but i also notice one thing When camera goes toward Audience many seats were empty in MPL matches but on the other hand on official channel ,streaming platforms they are getting regular live viewers from 300k-500k even players ,CCs who do watchparties also get regular live viewers from 50k-100k and sometimes 100k +

MLBB is a different case. it's a mobile games with a very low spec requirement, hundreds of influencers playing the game daily, and it is a moba that has a very thin barrier to follow (since most indonesian know it anyways). valorant is not as big as MLBB, yet. the barrier to follow the esports is higher. and most indonesian prefers to mobile devices than desktop PCs. if you are truly indian, you'd probably know how it feels, we're practically the same.

also i said the e-sports scene, not the e-sports itself, because we barely have anything to watch in valo nowadays. and even if we have it, it's either a tourney with no-namers org (or even orgless) team in it, or we just cheer for RRQ and f0rsaken.

that is why, not having youtube stream for this year VCL SEA was kinda a big hit for the scene. yeah we still have a good player pool, but if we don't have reliable platform for our viewership, what can we do? good things they changed it for 2026 though.

As u Mentioned "Indian" we also have same kind of thing.MLBB is big in Indonesia but in India its BGMI(Pubg Mobile) on 2nd Place its Free firee on 3rd COD Mobile and on 4th you can say MLBB but India got different version with name of MOBA Legends and in Case of PC Valorant is popular coz it works good in Low,Medium laptop which is affordable by Middle Class in India Pubg Mobile Viewership is Like MLBB viewership Of Indonesia. But slowly i saw PC Gaming is growing .i think Your Country Have Good PC scene as compare to South Asia. btw i Love Whole PRX and Susanto :)

yeah it is almost the same with indo. we're big with PUBG and Free Fire (they are still the normies games, alongside with MLBB), COD mobile was also big but it's getting much smaller day by day.

the big PC games we play in 2025 are valorant, dota2, and maybe deltaforce. point blank was once big, but i think valorant has dethrone it as the better FPS game. even CSGO was never had a chance to beat point blank a decade ago. the same way why league of legends never been a popular game even though we've had a functional regional league system.

and yeah sure we do have a long history of PC cafes, but that's only for MMORPGs, Dota, and point blank. and the trend of pc cafes are still going downhill after the birth of mobile gaming.

in case of LOL i saw you guys Have Regular Official watch Parties in Cafes,Malls .You guys have official LOL Channel . i Play in SEA server of LOL and i made Some In game friends from Indonesia.i never asked them this question but i want to ask you . What do you think as a Gamer LOL is not Big in Indonesia ?

#36

it's only lately. before 2020-21, Riot didn't have a dedicated server for SEA players. we used to have Garena as the game publisher, so everything was much more different years ago. regular patch came later, same with hotfixes, and it was barely populated since we were split into 3 region, indo, mysg, and philippines. vietnam and thailand had their own publisher, if im not wrong.

so garena already tried to market the game as a competitive game back in 2014, with LGS as the esports scene in indo, but indos (especially the one with PC culture) weren't interested as Dota 2 was, in our eyes, came first to indo. dota 2 released in july and garena LoL released in october. and we also have been playing the OG dota even before that. so i think it was a miss step from riot, to not fully integrate SEA region with their own servers, but i also understand that it was quite difficult to do so back then. this is already the root problem.

but i salute riot for not giving up on the region. until now i see a lot of well-known streamers and influencers trying LoL and actually enjoying it. as a veteran myself, it's a treat to see newbies in LoL because they always do the weirdest thing, and it's a fresh new look for LoL. but i don't think the game will go ballistic popular even with these peeps playing it, when our region don't even populate the servers with new players.

Valorant is probably the most popular esport in Turkey but if you ask who is the most well known Turkish esport player it's xantares.

It depends on whether you count Chess as an esport or not. Also in America the closest thing would be some of the Faze Clan members, but most of the known one's don't compete in esports or only play games.

In south Asia only mobile esports pros are famous tbh. People don't normally know even who faker or simple is unless they are deep in like PC gaming scene.
Most popular players here are PUBG mobile players like Jonathan or mortal who have made it big in influencer side too.

Not a lot of good German teams
Like I don’t know much about the other esports but cs wise currently no German team (player wise) is competitive enough…

Mouz are close but they are an international roster n most of their competitive teams have been in the past with karrigan woxic ropz etc and BIG but they aren’t close been no1 like they were in COVID times

In Brazil i've seen a lot of internet personalities that are not involved with competitive videogames know about Aspas, but thats about it. I cant remember any other brazilian Valorant player that is popular outside of the niche of esports

#42

#44

for sure fallen, he's friends with some of the biggest brazilian football players like neymar and casemiro just for context

#46
glittering_yard
2
Frags

that doesnt necessarily mean popularity, football players are very involved with esports as a business, Neymar = Furia, Casemiro = Case Esports, Vini Jr = LOUD, Messi = KRU and they all had contact with the players.

For example, the LOUD team with players like cauanzin and tuyz had dinner with Vini Jr in his home in Spain, but they are not popular

#47

#62

nobody really knows him outside the CS scene tbh, the only time esports really had close to mass appeal here was the fortnite world cup because they had loads of news interviews etc

no one knows Aspas outside of the Valorant community. he could be walking around São Paulo all day and only Valorant players (maybe people who play other games) would know who he is

#59

Fallen is basically the only esports player in Brazil who's actually famous. Like, most guys from, idk, 13 to 35 will probably know him or at least have heard of him even if they don't play or watch CS. Meanwhile in valorant, I don't think anyone comes close to that level of popularity. Aspas is the biggest name and even he could probably walk around in big cities without getting recognized once. And honestly, I feel like the game is only gonna get less and less popular over time, so I doubt anyone will ever reach that kind of status
