It's not only about money
val community lacks passion

not enough passion by the community and Riot being corporate crap

Surely we don't compare a game with 5 year history to game with a community that was built over a decade ?

A decade?
Nah, 20+ years

They have very comparable viewership and interest, and riot is a huge company

Viewership maybe but the interest is on a different level still

Also Riot only makes good decision when they are pressured

Gambling built into CS:GO = infinitely more money for sponsoring events.

Although, I’m pretty sure valve announced that they won’t be doing open qualifying for the next major (essentially moving to the val model), so I don’t know how well that’s really working out for CS right now.

Let's not act like Riot are poor.

It's not the same as riot model at all because it will be decided by points. Any team can earn points as long as they win games in t2 events and go up in ranking thus they get invited into T1 events unlike Valorant. Even built from scratch new teams can participate in t2 events provided they earn enough points winning games in grassroots t3 events or micky mouse tourneys.

Contrary to CS, Valorant has as all the goods like better anti-cheat & better servers but lacks passion, it feels soulless, it feels so corpo-ish compared to CS community. Valorant even allowed their casts, staffs and panels not to wear suits and just wear casual fits but somehow it still feels so corpo and the val events just lacks passion even though the matches were insane. Idk why this community is like this even when valorant has nail biter games too

I think it's bc of how it appeals more to casual fans rather than actual diehard esports guys compared to CS

I respectfully disagree since CS has skyrocketed in viewership more than ever in its entire history, and i can say for sure that majority of cs viewers are just casual fans too, even Caedrel was watching CS

here's the only solution:

the fucking fanbase needs to step up + crowd volume should be raised + riot needs to allocate more seats for the international events + roadshows should be done more often in the international leagues

The crowd volume thing is being integrated slowly, they already did it in Bangkok, roadshows do happen u know? In China for all cn teams , fanbase does step up but it's not consistent for all teams like if it's prx or sen fanbase it does step up big time

the players need to show a bit more personality, players like Zellsis and siufat are fan favorites bc of being the hypeman of their respective teams

fanbase needs to step it up first, you'll never find fans as passionate like this in val consistently for more than 1 team. sen is just a bunch of annoying screams
