i don't know about sarah because i haven't seen her do anything remotely impressive against tougher competition but agree on the rest. it sucks because the GC scene is full of people who either play casually or just aren't anywhere near as good as the t2 grinders. it's completely counterproductive to sit in GC and farm part-timers, and the GC scene would need an unrealistic overhaul for the level of competition to be worth it

you're right about the actions not words thing, and their actions don't really display their commitment. still, i think their reactions to getting knocked out of VCL and making all depressed/"i hate my life" posts shows more intent than someone who is happy sitting in gc forever. it is a little cognitive dissonance but i think they'd be more casual if they truly didn't want more.

imo teams are historically less likely to pick IGLs from GC/T2 as opposed to individual players who excel. i think it's because the gap in IGLing GC to tier 1 is considered insurmountable, and also you could blame a lot of GC teams' failures on lacking overall direction and calling.

that said I agree and think daiki is the person who could breach that barrier, and being mechanically strong certainly helps her case. leaderboard rankings are also becoming far more important in the modern age.

what is it that stops them as a team? i get that alexis and sarah are awful but you'd think with SO MUCH time, practice and investment they'd beat newly formed t2-reject teams

i think opportunities are going to get harder as players evolve and younger talents come in, as is already happening. i understand there are problems to do with systemic misogyny and whatnot but i agree, i really can't empathise with not even attempting to maximise your potential as a player. if they're happy staying in srg, fine, but every time they get eliminated they're all depressed, which makes me think they do want more

yeah looking at Daiki's recent games, she's going head to head against teams with players who had just recently played in tier 1 americas, although were quite bad.

she's probably one of the people i think highest of from gc, and who i actually think could do well soon with the right guidance

i've made a post about SRG before and people replied that given time, they think they'd make it into tier 1, if not some srg/gc players would. i'm excluding flor from this conversation because she was anomalously good.

my question is: in how long do you see that happening? i have no horse in this race and simply want to hear other perspectives. i personally question it ever happening given the stagnancy with which they continue to bow out of challengers, averaging 4.25 rounds per map in their 2 latest games (albeit with a standin)
