Scrim sharing is actually so fucked,
Team 1 "Great work guys! This comp/strat is working really well. Let's do it next match. 😊"
Team 2 "Hey they're doing the scrim comp we were told about. We know what to do. 😈"
All that work made meaningless.
"Teams that look at VODs" literally every team does VOD reviews of the team they're going to face, and it's completely fine as you're taking the matches they played on stage into account
Scrims are private practice games and teams often try new comps and shit in scrims to surprise their opponents ahead of their next game. So if you just tell their opponents that they're gonna play this comp with these strats and this playstyle, it literally gives them the upper hand cuz then they won't be surprised by set plays and will hard counter them like they're wallhacking. Stuff like this makes a huge difference at the pro level, which many casuals don't understand.
While I do see how it could give an advantage I don't think it could possibly be that big unless they're a regular partner you scrim 24/7 I there's been t1 teams in the past who have scrimmed each other regularly and have been fine while I see the issue it's hard to tell a little because it's fucking fr0st being the main person who's stating this
There is a fundamental difference between knowing what teams have done in the past and knowing what teams intend to do in the future.
Vod reviews give you insight into an existing gameplan that teams can adjust going forward if they want. Teams are also aware of the things they show in officials being publicly available (and can adjust based on that knowledge).
Scrim leaks will give a team information on you that you couldn’t reasonably expect them to have. It takes away the ability to surprise with new stuff and can at times leak specifically what you intend to do against a specific opponent.
Teams set up the scrims, they organize the scheduling, they decide who to scrim. Riot has no part in this so why should they enforce anything? It's just glorified custom matches, I could even make a "scrim" with 9 random vlr bums.
The burden falls on the team to safeguard their strats or scrim with trusted teams.
Nah think about it. If a strat is perfect, no amount of preparation could win you the round unless you js get lucky with a 3k while blind or stunned. And if a strat is not good, it can be read and countered because it will have holes. look at nAts, he finds the hole in almost every strat except the ones that are near perfect.
so... you're saying teams don't scrim their academy to know what works and what doesn't? EG's 10-man roster was literally cultivated for the express purpose of drilling strategies, knowing timings, etc. from that alone they'd get a lot more practical value than scrimming against other tier 1 teams who are only going to go for their own specific gameplans. that's not even mentioning that they'd probably flat out get less practice time against other teams compared to their academy
