its not

its 99% about timing tbh, it doesnt require high level aim or keyboard mechanics, u literally only press 2 buttons

Nah, there are some maps that do require you to flick across on top of just timing the circles. But as you said, it's not as daunting as it seems to someone who's never played osu.

Trust me you would think otherwise if you played an 8 star jump map osu definitely mechanically demanding especially if you use mouse only coming from a high 5 digit

You never have played osu! to a high degree if you say that. osu! is one of the games where the mechanical skill makes it addicting to play, because improvement is one of the things you see when you set scores on maps. Timing is definitely is only a small part of it, it's a game which relies super high lvl mechanical skill, being able to tap on the keys very fast and accurate, having consistent aim while playing high BPM maps that makes it hard to aim. Hitting jumps that go from the start to the end of your monitor in milliseconds. All that makes osu! one of the most hardest games in terms of skill ceiling, the game is over 10 years old and every month records are set that were thought to be impossible. The game may not that hard to learn but reaching a high lvl requires a ton of dedication and talent that not everybody has.

-> osu! is a game that heavily relies on the mechanical skill of a player, it's also very physically demanding on your hands if you play a very high lvl the possibility of getting carpal tunnel is definitely high without taking breaks.

-> a game where the skill ceiling is pretty much the sky, that is osu! if you follow top players.

i have played it

"being able to tap keys fast and accurate" is literally a timing skill. as for aiming we'll use a benchmark and that will be getting 100k gridshot in aimlab which many people strive for. anyone who gets 100k gridshot has enough aim to do the highest level osu maps, the hardest part for them is the timing. for games that actually require high level aim (not osu), games like quake, cs, fortnite at the highest level, 100k gridshot player will not be able to do that as easily. new records are set in almost every game all the time, dont you know this?..

your comment is a whole lot of incoherent rambling

"I have played it"

-> do you mean you are a 6 digit that played 9* maps with relax, because the way you talk about osu! makes you seem completely oblivious to any other in-game mechanic in the game.

Being able to hit 200bpm deathstreams is a mechanical skill, reading AR 11 and low AR EZ-mod maps is a skill. That are things you have to practice to get good at it.

Btw reaching 100k in Gridshot is super easy compared to be able to hit 300bpm deathstreams, your comparison makes you oblivious about other in-game mechanics.

" Timing" is a skill in osu! - It is a lot more than that, it is technique, stamina, reading, aim control and finger control which are all mechanical skill you have to put thousands of hours in to get a good lvl in that game.

-> You using that term "timing" makes it obvious that you haven't played osu! to any high lvl in your life and are evaluating to the very basics you know as a noob in that game.

i mean, do you play it? and whats your rank? the way you talk is like people who say non-pros cant have an opinion on the pro scene

-> claims i am oblivious to other osu mechanics without stating other osu mechanics

Being able to hit 200bpm deathstreams is a mechanical skill, reading AR 11 and low AR EZ-mod maps is a skill. That are things you have to practice to get good at it.

i know you are trying to make it sound complex, but this is literally a timing skill, are you for real rn?

Btw reaching 100k in Gridshot is super easy compared to be able to hit 300bpm deathstreams, your comparison makes you oblivious about other in-game mechanics.

again timing and claiming there are other mechanics without providing any evidence. youre not real

" Timing" is a skill in osu! - It is a lot more than that, it is technique, stamina, reading, aim control and finger control which are all mechanical skill you have to put thousands of hours in to get a good lvl in that game.

bunch of incoherent jargon tbh

i am only saying osu isnt the hardest game mechanically. it is hard absolutely a hard game but not the most mechanical. but you simply dont use your keyboard as much as games like starcraft, fortnite or gunz and it isnt as hard to aim as quake, fortnite, cs. i'll use your own argument against you since you like it so much. youve never played any of these games to a high level

i mean, do you play it? and whats your rank? the way you talk is like people who say non-pros cant have an opinion on the pro scene

I am rank 22k in osu!std right now, and was a top 100 player in osu!droid about 3 or 4 years ago.

-> claims i am oblivious to other osu mechanics without stating other osu mechanics

Are you fr now? being able to hit 200 bpm streams is mechanical skill it's literally takes technique and stamina for that. Can't you understand that sentence or what?

again timing and claiming there are other mechanics without providing any evidence. youre not real

maybe you just misunderstand me, I meant mechanical skill with that, you probably think about other buttons you have to press like going beyond x and z probably right? So is technique that have to be learned not defined as a mechanic for you?
Then mapping comes to in my mind which also takes a lot of time and should be defined as a mechanic in that game.

am saying only osu isnt the hardest game mechanically. it is hard absolutely a hard game but not the most mechanical. but you simply dont use your keyboard as much as games like starcraft, fortnite or gunz and it isnt as hard to aim as quake, fortnite, cs. i'll use your own argument against you since you like it so much. youve never played any of these games to a high level

you are right but I am just ranting about your first point you said about osu!

"Its 99% about timing tbh, it doesnt require high level aim or keyboard mechanics, u literally only press 2 buttons"

I just want to tell you that you are wrong about that because your understanding of "timing" in osu! doesn't makes a lot of sense to my understanding of the game. Yes it easier to aim because it is a 2d game that's obvious dude, but reaching high lvls just takes time like other games do.

Of course a game like Starcraft is a lot harder in mechanics, I am not disagreing with that, I also don't claim knowledge about that game or the other ones. I'm just telling you that osu! is a game about pure mechanical skill and claiming it is 99% timing is simple minded.

ok i can see your points and understand. when i think of mechanics i mainly thinking of combinations of button presses, how fast they can be pressed (yes i did overlooked that with 200-300 BPM) and your coordination with it all. and aim mechanics is self explanatory. timing itself isnt a mechanic but combined with button presses it can be, it is about precision. osu only has 2 buttons so thats why i see it as mainly timing but yes that can be mechanical. glad we came to an agreement.

The way you saw osu! just felt very ignorant as an osu! player who invested too much time in a circle clicking game. :) There is still a lot I could tell you about osu! but I will stop now.
I just will link this and a bit more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1-wTmOELQ8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNCVIWrqWGA&t=33s osu! as an esport.

I am 4 digit in osu! (top 2k in USA) with 600 hours in the game, and I have 600 hours in kovaaks (an aim trainer that's literally just the same as aim labs) and I've hit like 140k on gridshot. Both of you looked past a very important mechanic that's most prominent in osu!, which is "reading" Being able to train my eyes to look at notes across one side of the screen to the other and flick to it was a big learning curve when I was climbing the ranks of osu!, and it was a skill that took a lot of time. In layman's terms, just look at this clip of XQC watching the top osu player https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yun9lwaay4 You don't need to play the game to realize that you need to read and react to the circles extremely fast. I also think the osu! maps I"ve played require more speed aim than just hitting 100k on gridshot. Playing osu! with the DT (double time) mod means I have aim way faster than I would to have to hit 100k on gridshot. Also I think using gridshot as a benchmark feels wrong when you use it to generalize the actual aim mechanics of fortnite or csgo. Trust me, sitting in aim labs or kovaaks all day to become a god at whatever FPS you are trying to train for just won't work. I was hardstuck plat in valorant even though I was "grandmaster 1" in aim labs and I was grandmaster in the static scenarios in the Voltaic benchmarks for kovaaks (which are a lot harder and more practical for valorant than gridshot). But I didn't finally get immortal in valorant by being an "aim god" but through game sense and being consistent with crosshair placement-- which are also hard mechanics, I'm not trying to undermine them. But even though osu! just requires "2 keys" to use, you have to quite literally train your hand muscles to play the hardest maps. It's not "just timing" when your eyes and hands need to literally be trained to play the hardest maps. There's more but that's at least why I believe osu! is the "hardest" game mechanically. I mean there's literally no limit to osu! so it has got to be the most mechanically demanding game out there.

There are those who compare chess and league. How many heroes are there in league? 152. Suppose you pick one of these 152 heroes. There are already 152 possibilities before the game even starts. If the hero you choose comes out in the hero selection, 151. Come on, if 5 out of 5 bans are the same, 146 heroes remain. The ratio of different heroes that can come across is the following 146 145 144 143142 141140139138 even the calculator could not calculate it. If there are 10 heroes, there will be 40 skills in total. There are 60 skills with summoner spells. If we take the average of each skill for 10 seconds for each character, assuming that each game takes an average of 25 minutes, each hero uses 150 skills throughout the game (I exaggerated it is even more) 10 heroes and 150 If we calculate the skill usage probabilities, we get the result of 150!*10, which is too big to be written here. Fuck those who say chess now
