heres a question for you, why do you care so much about the opinions of others?

#4

because these opinions, when expressed publicly, have an impact on people

I mean I agree but this logic can be applied the other way too by saying "because their own preferences have an impact on people"

And when I say impact it obviously means "negative consequences", not all impacts are equal

I don't care that people have opinions. I care when those opinions are used to justify treating other people with hatred or disrespect. There's a difference. Opinions don't exist in a vacuum lol. When an opinion encourages discrimination or makes people's lives harder, it has real consequences. Calling that out isn't the same as policing harmless preferences.

do you expect people to like them when their entire personality revolves around this thing. and beg for attention

and... there is a difference between the two things you mentioned. I agree that being homophobic is weird tho if both sides kind!

That's like saying all straight people make being straight their whole personality because some won't stop talking about their relationships. You're judging an entire group by the few people you notice the most.

#18

what qualifies as people making it their entire personality or attention seeking? is it when you see gay people existing in media? is it when a man is expressing himself in a more feminine manner in public?

you just want people to appear less queer to make you more comfortable :p

I think what the guy on top said doesn't applies to Homosexual people but it can be applied to trans people because most of them are just too insecure about their identity and then everything happens to be about their identity

#66
XtraChrxs

i probably did misread it i wasnt really paying attention but people use the argument for gay and trans people alike so its basically the same idea cuz majority of the time its just people living their normal lives

but even then nobody is more obsessed with trans people than transphobes so maybe that's why they notice it more idrk. nobody gains anything from these trans discourse conversations so idk why they happen so often

Here's the thing: This is similar to how people say "I've never seen a good toupée."; Just as you would never notice a good toupée---because you would assume it was their natural hair---you realistically wouldn't notice as many cases of discreet queerness, as you would someone who likes to display their pride, particularly their ostracized identity. Finally, in defence of the loud and proud LGBTQIA+---and please understand that I too can be irked by such people in certain cases---not only does there need to be some apparent representation of LGBTQIA+, in order to attempt to prevent discriminatory government policy, and discriminatory social mores, but also prevent the internalized stigma of those who are oppressed, especially because of the unfortunate---but very real---depression that many face because of their status as a queer person. My heart yearns for queers who were raised, and are themselves Christian, but believe that their lives are pointless and they won't be accepted into the kingdom of heaven.

Well I guess its mostly because these people try to impose their opinions over everyone else when no one is actually wanting them............

Major chunk of the world loves a normal chill life

Personally for me idc about people having preferences but the way modern media is just trying to put in inclusion everywhere like companies like Netflix thinks they are like Messiah of inclusion but actually its hurting their own business coz 95% of the world wants to watch a good film and not a dipshit propaganda.

I love movies like Portrait of a lady on Fire, Call me by your Name, Lady Bird and all coz they feel natural.......... rather than those stupid ass Netflix and Hollywood forceful shit

#14

so you're jst hating on bad storytelling, not LGBTQ+ people. Representation itself isn't propaganda, it's just including people who exist in real life. Plenty of great films with LGBTQ+ characters are praised because they're well written, like the ones you mentioned.
So if the issue is poor writing, criticize the writing lmao. Blaming an entire group of people for a studio's creative decisions doesn't really make sense🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

#23

Thankfully IRL I haven't met many people who are that obsessed with what others do. Most of my Christian friends who don't agree with homosexuality have told me on multiple occasions that they have no qualms with the people who are homosexual, transgender, etc. They are in agreement that everyone should live how they want to.

It's only online that these extreme opinions are amplified, and it goes both ways. You get extremists who violently oppose pride, etc., but also there are clips of LGBTQ+ people acting extreme as well, getting into people's faces and basically showcasing the "well they're forcing their culture down my throat!" argument. On both sides, these viewpoints are very rare in real life. They are circulated on social media in order to turn more people to the extremes.

People need to set aside the digital world and reality. Go outside and actually connect with people, find out about what they are like. I guarantee if the entire world adopted this policy, most extremism would disappear with a couple of years.

Ignorance and propaganda mostly like with most of these issues. If you can get people to be outraged towards a marginalized group of people that ostensibly have no real impact on those people's lives then they're too distracted to get mad at the people who are actually negatively effecting their lives, ie the billionaires and our governments

probs because its impossible for cis people to realize that trans people suffer from gender dysphoria which is more or less a mental illness, and they for some reason cannot empathize with that, despite empathizing with other illnesses like depression or ect which gets more recognition, its just ableism since for a lot of trans people gender dysphoria is pretty debilitating

#29

then they should treat it as an illness instead of forcing people to accept it as the norm and shoving the movement down everyone's throat at every chance they get

most of the transgender surge is largely driven by social/psychological factors

Holy contradiction. If you actually sympathized with trans people who suffer from gender dysphoria, u would take the time to understand them instead of generalizing them all as a group

shmucks who pretend to be a different gender just to win competitions

I guarantee u there's basically not a single trans person that ever goes through all the hassle of coming out of the closet only to "win competitions". They do it for far more complex and bigger reasons.

Pronoun count: 3

Imagine being so full of hate that you devalue someone's experience of life just cuz it isn't clearly visible to you. Trans people suffer a lot from their own insecurities and gender dysphoria and adding to that suffering with your unnecessary hate, crossing them as freaks, isn't gonna help with making the world a better place.

#46

pronoun count 3 yeah sure lmao
imagine being so delusional that you automatically accept whatever belief someone imposes upon you and have no value system of yourself

#54

"I", "YOU", "WHO". Those are the 3 pronouns u used dipshit. Well i guess u don't gotta imagine being that level of delusional, cuz u believe that trans people are an actual problem to society and thus genuinely hate them up to the last nail of your body. Now tell me what biological facts from 5th grade are you gonna pull up on me that can be refuted with advanced biology, huh? I'm free to be a kind soul and live my life as a person with their identity not only in gender but also in my general personality, what shouldn't be free, is hate, just like the one u are spitting in this exact moment. Nothing has been shoved down my throat, religion has been shoved more down my throat than anything, not the random bs u invent and try to label as "Trans agenda" cuz a "Trans agenda" doesn't exist, and it's just a scapegoat for the elites to keep getting away with their horrendous activities.

if you want an honest answer it's probably because of the way a lot of woke things get pushed and non-discussions that arise when people voice discomfort. by that i mean nobody ever tries to actually talk to someone who has uncertain feelings on the issue of transgenderism they just beat them over the head repeatedly by shaming them into silence or agreement. nobody actually tries to have open discourse and for many ppl raised young and in the west that probably seems stupid because you've always been raised that gay is normal but u gotta have some perspective. many MANY people out there are not hateful just ignorant/have very limited exposure and do not deserve to be repeatedly shamed but deserve conversation

anyway a lot of the hate, or rather a lot of the support for the hate is fueled largely by that imo. some ppl will always be racist/xphobic/etc but the support for it is largely this. it's a culture of agree or death and that does not do a good job of convincing anybody of anything ever

edit: this is meant more an explaining rather than excusing, particularly for toxic behaviour

I agree that conversations work better than shaming. But I also think it's important not to confuse criticism of harmful ideas with silencing people. You can disagree with someone's views without trying to stop them from speaking🙌

#24

0
Frags

absolutely and in person it's not even that difficult at all it's probably the default for a lot of people. social media just manipulates ppl into extremifying their views, getting their ego involved and just discourages open discussion significantly

once you put people in an environment where they actually can have conversations with a trans person (face to face or direct dm or smth) it's pretty wild how much people change. suddenly they can listen. not everyone obv but a lot i really do think it's like 80% environment from social media. i choose to remain optimistic that most of humanity still has compassion we just arent showing it on vlr/twitter/reddit/tiktok

definitely a 2-way thing 100% yeah it's super discouraging when u run into ppl who dont wanna have human conversation

if it's in a public setting of any kind at least some ppl will see what u guys are talking about and it'll be clear to anyone with a rational mind that one side is resorting to that kinda thing while the other is trying to talk openly. you convince the wrong person accidentally kinda thing

idk I always found it weird cuz I mean I saw it as preference. Like I for example love brunettes, someone loves blondes. I won't shit talk him for his preference, neither will he. if either of us do it we are stupid. So why attack LGBTQ? Like, in russian there is a saying which is roughly translated as: ''they don't fuck me'' which means both physical and ''they don't bother me''. Like genuinely why do people care about what others do in their bed rooms?

#43
Crypto_816

I think it has more to do with the fact that they keep pushing LGBTQ representation. I do think people would hate less if they werent having forced representation as opposed to naturally having newer characters and such and focus less on their gender identity and have actual proper character traits. Making their entire identity them being trans is just boring

Explain the holy trinity without committing heresy. Citing a religious scripture for accuracy is treacherous territory if you aren't prepared to be thorough. If you are willing to stand your ground properly and respectfully, I'd love to hear what you have to say.
