I knew it was very similar to Overwatch, but I watched a few videos and this shit is literally Overwatch with new skins and maps

yeah i loved when overwatch allowed me to play as doctor strange. that was my favourite overwatch update.
it's literally early ow1 but third person and more characters 😹people have already began complaining about the same shit they complained about with overwatch, give it a year and the community will be in the exact same state as overwatch
it is pretty much overwatch like the only real addition is team ups and destruction but it has a lot of promise and has a blueprint to not end up like overwatch and the game is fun

how? it's the same issues, maybe the only difference is that counter swapping isn't as good in rivals but it's too early to tell

the blueprint is overwatch itself. every mistake is a lesson, but luckily all of the mistakes are pre-made for them

Marvel Rivals is third person overwatch with hero bans
Valorant is CS with abilities
the game mode is similar but its kinda hard not to be based off of overwatch or some other big hit game. its super fun to play the mechanics are interesting and the graphics are insane
basically just 3rd person ow with teamups and fighting game melee characters

I would say since it's new, we are like in the honeymoon period but I am interested to see how it is once that ends, overall an okay game I am still not too sure about the power creep since we are going with the every1 is broken method of balance

I played overwatch and the marvel IP, third person, and hero bans make it play a lot different
plus no Mauga, Orissa, or Roadhog makes the game so much better
but it is still very similar. Just like how Valorant is very similar to CS
Def was hesitant to jump on the hype but turn out its a fun game. For me tho it feels like a game you would jump on occasionally if you have a group.

The abilities are mostly different. The maps are unique. The mechanics are different. The only thing that is similar are the game modes. But are you now going to tell me that overwatch invented the convoy/ protect the package game mode, or king of the hill game mode? That's such bs. It's like taking a template of a storyboard and creating your own designs. When comparing the abilities even, the overlap is all based on perception. Lore wise, the characters and their abilities in marvel rivals make sense, and the similarities in abilities and functions only occur on a macro level. Marvel rivals itself is a very unique spin on a genre of games that overwatch happens to fall into.

I'm not trolling. All the similarities you think of are only associations. If sigma didn't exist, it's not unrealistic to think that magneto would have some of the same abilities he has now. If wrecking ball didn't exist, I'm certain that spider man and venom would still have a swinging ability. If D.va didn't exist, hulk would still have a bruce banner version or transformation. I'm not saying everything is perfectly unique. I appreciate that magneto abilities are like zarya and sigma from overwatch, but there are so many unique things about marvel rivals. Does overwatch have a character that can switch between two different characters? Does overwatch have a SHARK that shoots a stream of healing water??? Its not fair to compare the two, because it's not like ow was the first game of the genre, right? And even if it was, marvel rivals is still it's own game, and it's not the fault of the creators of marvel rivals that the creators of overwatch were not able to keep their game interesting enough to compete with them.
