i understand, but the person making the original tweet said that since they were under contract they couldn’t and the knights latam already knew about it or something, still it’s kinda weird someone is somewhat defending a racist

what clause in a contract prohibits you from exposing weirdos tho? also where did he defend the racist... his point is the person chose to expose her only after they lost to them which gives the impression they dont care about racism either and is just salty.

some asians think they are better than everyone for a few academic acheivements, its nothing new but it doesn't give them a reason to be racist. I personally know many Chinese people who are very humble and they show their talent by their actions and not by other people and claim them as their own achievements.

LOL it’s “racist” but I’d argue on the insanely low end of the spectrum… its just a misguided youth saying a world she heard rappers say because she thinks it makes her hip and cool with basically no malicious intent at any black person ever 💀💀 more insensitive than racist really

stuff we see on VLR about Indians and stereotypes around Asians eating dogs or like even pro players shitting on Brazil (cough 2021 Sentinels fans) are far more racist

it’s a huge overreaction to cancel someone for that kinda stuff

i mean hes kinda right. imagine knowing someones a racist for a year and not doing anything about it until you can personally gain from it. If the exposer actually cared, she'd message a TO or Admin and have them privately banned, instead of waiting to make an "expose" tweet.

#34

I guess that's what he was trying to say, but he worded it so wrong.

#35

#39

the way he responded when people asked why he’s defending it, blud said to stop defending a racist freak he responded withh “ i’m good “ .

and the person gave a reason on why they didn’t say anything before hand, “ Contractual obligations to not spread negativity while representing an org. The contract is now done, so I am free to say what I want. And with no intention of playing this game anymore, I see no reason to keep it under wraps “ and he tried to spill random bullshit to his twitch chat saying they’re lying

they treat the word as a slur but then listen to it nonstop in music, movies, etc. Hypocritical

#67
Cannot
0
Frags

depends on who is using it and in what way.

#68
Tooker

Frags

How could you deduce a negative connotation from that SS of the word? It's 5 months before the first image, doesn't use hard R, and there's no surrounding messages that give a hateful context.

#71
Cannot
0
Frags
+

i said nothing about the screenshot. I am just replying to the post that the word can be a slur but has also been reclaimed and therefore not really hypocritical if you are listening to it in music for example. There is actual contextual depth to it not just cut and dry.

also for the screenshot its still weird for an asian girl to just be using it. not necessarily 100% racist (there is no context that it was used in a demeaning manner) just still should not be said

#76
Tooker
0
Frags
+

Fair about the first part mb, but why should it not be said in a context like that? I think it's fine to be in favor of banning the word entirely, but it doesn't make sense to me to say that it's okay in some contexts (unless that was like an academic-only context), but that's she's being a little racist by using it (even though not 100%) in that way? Her SS, based on the context would be nearly identical to hearing it in a song, except for the race.

#79
Cannot
0
Frags
+

I'm not going to pretend I'm the most knowledgeable about this topic so if someone comes into to correct me that would be totally fine. (im also white so like not exactly the best to be speaking about it since it doesn't really have anything to do with me)

But the short version is that the word (-r) was long used as a derogatory term for black people (especially during the slavery era in America + fights for equality in the south US, that I know of but probably used much more). It has since been reclaimed by the black community and instead used more as a term for just another person (-a) (heavily depends on context/connotation the exact of meaning). I have been in many predominantly black spaces where the word was frequently used as just another word

So its not exactly great for someone who is not of black descent to use the word because as I said before it was previously a word used by other races as a means of oppression and instead is now used by black community as their word (there is some other context here probably about like being used as a sign power in knowledge and vocabulary that can never be taken away). It just seems wrong because of the history simply

Tldr: she is asian and its not her word

#81
Tooker

Frags

In my opinion, you need to say that a word causes harm to prevent someone from using it. What you've given me is a perfectly valid reason for not using a hard R, something I agree with. The issue with this is that -a doesn't carry that same meaning with it. To say that a black person could use the word, and it has a positive connotation, but someone who isn't black using it automatically gives it a negative intention doesn't make sense to me. If we assume that the reason it's harmful is that it brings back memories of that oppression, why would hearing it from another black person not also bring up those memories, especially given the case that some black people can be racist against black people?

It seems a much more plausible answer to me that the intention behind the use of the word is the most important factor. I doubt anyone saying that a white person rapping along to a song that uses the n-word is racist, but that wouldn't make sense with your reasoning. If she was sending the message to a black person, with the intent of belittling their opinion with the word, I'd agree that she was being racist, but it seems much more likely that she is using it in a similar way to what you described in your 2nd paragraph.

Also a little bit of a separate topic, I don't know why the fact that she's Asian is an important distinction. My history isn't great, but there isn't a history of Asian oppression against black people. Wouldn't that make her use of the word neutral, since the race she's from doesn't have a history of oppression against black people?

tl;dr: The important factor isn't the history of the word, but the context and intention behind it's use. There are many situations in which I believe a majority of people would find the use of the word acceptable, so clearly, it's not intrinsically bad but requires a certain state of mind to be bad. People who aren't black using the world is cringy, but not inherently racist.

yeah its weird and not cool for her to say it, but not like total confirmed racist murdered my dog and stabbed by stuffed animal without more info. The only reason why her being asian is relavent is essentially because she isnt black

Bro trick sucks at phrasing what hes saying is that the person doesnt care about exposing the racism, if they cared they would have exposed it earlier, even if its "against" the contract which is total bs cause this is racism we r talking about
This person is only exposing the racism to get back at this other person now that they r on bad terms

Trick is right on this one. She used racist behaviour for personal gain and exposed her only after losing to said racist person. She could have done so earlier but made a choice not to.

"yes, what was said in that post is bad, but you would need to be extremely ignorant to turn a blind eye to nem0 who’s clearly weaponizing something they shouldn’t be."

He's saying that withholding evidence of racism to keep in your pocket as a weapon for when you lose is wrong

He's not saying that racism is good, or defending the racist.

this entire post is like "oh I like pancakes" "so you hate waffles?"
