Hey guys, I saw a post talking about not watching porn.

I know I’m not a very popular member or known at all in vlr (which isn’t a bad thing but prob won’t really make my words important), however I still hope you can take this to heart.

Porn is not good.

It’s a form of escapism from reality, like endlessly playing video games every day, or consuming hours of TikTok or other forms of media content.
I personally believe that someone truly at the peak of themselves at life, will not need something as shallow as pornography.
It will eventually shatter your outlook on the opposite gender, set unrealistic expectations of sex, and will possibly even end up like another addiction.
Nothing is horrible if used in moderation, however if you’re currently struggling with a porn addiction, please just leave it completely.
You’ll recognize changes in your life as soon as you start leaving pornography/degeneracy in general and focusing on other things such as working out, creating a social life, studying, or focusing on school extracurriculars.

For men or women, I encourage all of us to attempt to build relationships, and try to gain confidence in small ways that eventually add up.
Anyone who justifies pornography is either in the scene or sad with their life.
Obviously no one can force anyone to do something with their life, but I’d hope that this small passage can be taken to heart.
Not just for porn, but all forms of escapism.
Modern society in 1st world countries don’t struggle physically too much anymore, but there’s a new era of mental and dopamine-frying issues arising.

We can’t really say “just stop” either. We have to take steps, stay consistent, and always get back up.

Allat : don’t watch porn, it’ll ruin your outlook on the world and is only a form of escapism.

If you feel trapped, I’d recommend searching out for a mentor or someone who’s dealt with an addiction to porn and is now clean.

Stay safe everyone!
I ❤️ you all even if you disagree with me.

If you think that then I disagree.

I don’t follow his content, but I am confused;
How are people who say porn is bad tate fans? Didn’t Andrew Tate make a lot of his early money through a webcam business?

he made money, still he says its bad.

Hm, I don’t think Andrew Tate was the first person to call out porn as Hana feels, but if he thinks it’s bad for our general health, I agree with him on that.

Yeah, as much as I disagree with pornography, I find it sad that people attack porn stars and their children sometimes.
They are still people, even if I disagree with the choices they have made, they deserve a level of respect as a human.

I agree. this is a much bigger problem today than it was before, as if you have access to a phone, you have access to porn. which is 86% of the world. now of course, not everyone watches it, but a large majority do, in the West. there's a reason its a 97 Billion Dollar industry. it will become a bigger problem in the future, since our children are growing up with it, I knew I did, and I would never want anyone's kid to be subject to that. its sad but we must take a stand. thanks for the post bro <3

I agree with u for the most part but porn in not all bad and harm. Theres nothing wrong with jerking off once in a while as it is proved to be good for mental health and stress-relieving. However i do believe that porn addiction is quite bad and detrimental, it can rotten your mind and most of the time all u can think about is seggs

Let's look at dopamine, a neurochemical in our brain. When we watch porn, dopamine is released, making us feel pleasure. This pleasure reinforces the behavior and we start to crave more. Over time, as with any dopamine-driven activity, we may need more stimuli to achieve the same level of pleasure, just like how drug users need higher doses over time.

This is why porn can potentially lead to addictive behavior. As the need for more stimuli increases, so does the time spent seeking and consuming pornography.

this is not an overnight action, it happens gradually for non addicts.

Well i do agree that it is very easy to be addicted to porn once you are immersed, but as the thread writer said himself, nothing is horrible if used in moderation, same as video games or social media, they are all just tools to entertain us if u know how to use it properly

no one watches porn in moderation bro, once you get that nice feeling you keep coming back to it as it is so accessible

I agree that the act of masturbation is not bad.
It's just when you give your brain dopamine, it tends to crave it more and more. That's why I recommended leaving it completely first, and then after you've fixed many of the things you once lost, then maybe you can look at it if it's what you truly desire.
However, I think a person who's reached a level of confidence and success in their life won't need porn, especially if they have a loving and caring relationship with their partner.

Either way I respect your opinion, thanks for sharing!

imo dopamine releasing things aren't a problem and you can get addicted to anything really, some things are just much less productive than others. explicit content isn't really a problem, it's when people are out of control with using it, it just happens that things like porn and games are easy to access and is somewhat addictive. every kid now has a phone or computer and you can get instant access to gratification. knowing how to wield your dopamine in the right way is now more important than ever, you gotta know when to stop wankin it, shut down valorant, or not eat the whole carton of ice cream and seek the alternative productive activity that works for them, rather than teaching people to say "absolutely no games, no porn, no junk food", but to do it less often and focus on more meaningful things to you.

I find that it’s hard to just say “I’ll just do less of this” for things you have an addiction to. That’s why I said first leave from these things and then come back when you feel better.

I agree but philosophically I think it's not good to suppress things with a zero content policy. People yo-yo diet, relapse and binge on drugs and alcohol, etc. The truth is that you can self control but when things get out of control it's better to be able to know how to moderate yourself at baseline over your lifetime rather than binging and purging. Understanding where it comes from and how that fits into your life positively or negatively in an honest way is the better way of dealing with things, for addicts its much easier said than done than to just leave for good, you have to come up with an alternative that's meaningful to that person.

the fact is you cant really moderate with porn. because the dopamine release is so high compared to other things when there are challenges in your life, its an escape that is so easily widespread, unlike drugs and alcohol with such instant gratification. and everyone faces stress, there is not one person who can say they haven't faced challenges, thats when coping mechanism kick in, the instant gratification factor becomes such an easy answer rather than actually facing the problem head on (Which is what i think you are saying). but at the same time, porn, objectively does not provide any benefit, from a rational perspective, if you truly balance the pros and cons(1) (the cons weigh far greater than any pro), thats why its just better to just cut it out. that should be your philosophy to approach these things, even if you may struggle to stop, your end goal must be to cut it out, otherwise, you have just given up

(1) porn consumers report greater depressive symptoms, lower quality of life and poorer mental health compared to those who don’t watch porn. : source

what I've always found interesting is the weirdness around statistics and data related to pornography addiction. many studies place the rate of addiction around 8-11% (though there really aren't that many studies from what I remember). (in the u.s.)

That's lower than the rate of alcohol abuse in the U.S. Solely by anecdote and intuition, I think that seems unlikely. Even more interesting is that it's still not unanimously agreed upon that pornography is addictive at all.

when the industry brings in so much money, who would want it to be known as bad

The fact that is is available so easily makes matters worse because children with unrestricted access to internet can easily found porn and become addicted. My country has banned the hub but there are still thousands of sites.

Porn is only bad if you're actually a beta bottom boi / have no confidence. This is the most braindead part of your post

You’ll recognize changes in your life as soon as you start leaving pornography/degeneracy in general and focusing on other things such as working out, creating a social life, studying, or focusing on school extracurriculars

I don't even think it's bad if you masturbate once a day, but many people believe that because they do they are addicts which leads to you diagnosing yourself as a braindead masturbating cuck kid, which is even worse. If that's the case then working everyday is bad, or coffee everyday is bad. It's only bad if it's the majority of what you spend your time awake doing. Bottom line is it's just hard for most people to live a very balanced life due to money (which most of us struggle with bc we either are kids or in college etc). Hence why we are gamers (cheap and is the least "problematic"). Once you start your career you will naturally grow out of such habits since you will be able to "breathe" in a sense.

no but why are you masturbation once a day, is it because you think its healthy?

and why are you particularly masturbating at a certain time of day? or is it just when you feel like it, and what are you feeling at that moment (sad, angry, stressed, )

They are an avid porn watcher before we met and it's just like a random thing we do like playing video games or watching a show together. Like instead of sending a meme we send a cool porn clip we liked or something
