Older “washed” IGLS

We have gotten to the point where even the IGL of a team needs to at least decently good mechanically, and some of the older IGLS who are old by age or have just been IGLing a very very long time just aren’t as good anymore. They need to stop being players and become coaches. Players like ANGE1, koldamenta, BONECOLD?, m1xwell, rhyme?, JessieVash, Benkai, Stax?, mazin just don’t have the mechanical skill anymore but definitely still have the brains to be a coach in valorant.

im tired of people protecting this guy like he isnt cooking up the worst comps in the pro scene rn and on top of this is the only person holding that NAVI team back. He wants to be Saadhak so bad with these weird ass comps he trys to make metas and thinks they will work yet no one sits him down and tells him to stick to ongoing meta that shit hes cooking is ass. If this team didnt have so many comp problems they would be so good, him continusly playing Brim on Lotus should speak for itself. Stop making excuses for him, his ass should be on the chopping block if they get grouped

i agree that a lot of these players should move to a more coachable role, stax shouldnt really be there tho
some igls calling is just so good that it genuinely doesnt matter how bad mechanically they are, like boaster and more specifically fns and yeah they prob wouldnt win as much but i feel like people think boaster is bad and hes getting carried but if you actually watch fnatic games you see how well he sets them up for success, and thats even more true in fns

Boaster is one igl who was considered "bad" mechanically who has seemed to have a resurgence and has been able to hold his own in gunfights. I think it's all about confidence. Being surrounded by those 4 raid bosses surely boosted his confidence and he has become the player with the highest clutch% in entire vct this season

Like Ange1 is fine mechanically but hes a poor IGL these days. Honestly the only one in that list thats is bad is Koldamenta, man can barely string together 100 acs per map and his calling is Ascendant level.

I always say this but, BEING AN IGL AND A COACH AREN'T THE SAME THING

Coaches are responsible for cooking strats mainly, while IGLs are responsible for where and when to use them, mid rounding, and how to play the "FPS" aspect of the game. Way different skillset (like consider FNS, bro can be a decent coach, sure, but his MID ROUNDING just can't be reciprocated if he is a coach)

Can Benkai even be considered washed? The only reason he's not getting playing time on PRX is that their whole roster is cracked asf. Like you put Benkai on literally any team that's not ass, and he probably puts up good numbers. He was always one of the best IGL's mechanically and I really doubt his aim had dropped off that much.
