Esport in val vs cs

Idk why but i always enjoy watching CSGO but when it comes to valorant i enjoy playing the game more than esports.
I almost never play cs but still i like to to tune in for the matches, but when it comes to valorant i am usually not excited for the matches unless its my fav team or grand final.
The production quality difference is there but i dont think that is a lot of difference.
The reason behind this thread is to not say cs>val but just the answer to cs success in esports despite low player base and valorant having larger player base but less audience for matches.
Wait i did site feedback?? Mb

personally I dont really understand this narrative that csgo is so much more hype to watch but thats just me

I have never played csgo in my life but I watch it sometimes, and I think its the better casters csgo has and how they have those huge crowds that make it hype

i feel like overall in cs the plays re usually more hype because the pros have a much higher skill ceiling compared to valorant which is a much newer game. this is somthing that changes over time as pros get better and better games will also be better and better to watch i feel

see when I watch it the skill ceiling in val seems higher if anything but I'm also plat

it can look like this, but trust me csgo is mechanically insane even though it doesnt look it

#48

cs is 100% harder mechanically no question, oping is probably the only thing thats actually harder in val than cs,also what makes you think its higher in val when the games scene is populated by ex semi pro and tier 2 cs players and its only been out for 2 years

#58

No question mechanical skill ceiling is higher but he implied overall skill ceiling which I don't think is true

#59

why or how would val skill ceiling be higher,it doesnt make any sense

I don’t really watch any csgo, but it seems that since the game has been a thing for so much longer you have “storylines” that have kinda formed. I.e. s1mple was widely considered the best player but had never won a major, so when we won one, there was a lot more hype. I think Karrigan also had a similar situation.

What are we supposed to answer to that

Your take on why cs gets more audience despite low player base and why it just feels more hype to watch it?

#11
FoechiGG

Frags

Cuz more people watch it I suppose

#13

But valorant clears csgo in the playerbase easily but valo doesnt just get that audience on esports.

CS has a longer history in Esports

I don’t think it’s more hype cuz I never really played it but I guess there are reasons like that

val has more currently active players than csgo, but csgo (i would assume) has more total players (as in, people who have played in the past but might not necessarily play any more).

generally a game (esports or conventional sports) tends to be more interesting to watch if you've played it yourself and understand some of the details. so i feel like just taking active playerbase as a metric is a bit sketchy.

additionally, cs has been around much longer as an esport. it takes time to accumulate a loyal viewerbase. up until now, val hasn't even had a consistent format yet. i reckon the new league system, plus crowds at LANs, will probably do their part to help val gain more viewers.

"15.7 million have jumped into at least one game of Valorant over the past 30 days, based on the available data. This balances out at around 1.5 million active players per day."
Meanwhile CS: https://steamcharts.com/app/730

Stop lying. CS has a bigger player base than VALORANT.

If you watch any cs game except semis or finals it's boring as well even on T1 tournaments . Casters also need to be good for it to be enjoyable.
Also cs matches can go very long and unless it's a hype match it's a snoozefest and a half .

Swiss format makes it fun. Instead of just watching the same teams for 3 hours at least you get to see 6 teams in 3 hours.
Quarters are boring most of the times.

I have like 1k hours in cs but got bored after watching 1 pro game
I have only around 600-700 hours in val but watch a lot of esports
I just don't get the hype of CS esports tbh

trust me. Its because of the casting. Val casters are bad at hyping up the game

its very hard to actually spectate valorant. rounds are too unpredictable and can end instantly. observers miss alot of kills

I think something people aren’t mentioning is the general lack of hyping anything up that isn’t masters. Iirc they did a series of videos on NA talent like subroza and Marved( I think) to hype up challengers 2, but that’s normally the only thing I see. For masters, they put out some pretty sick videos that tease the event and the players attending that generally raises my interest in watching the events.

Also the casting can kinda suck. I love my boy riv, but sometimes it feels like he doesn’t really understand some of the things the pros do.

I watch Valorant esport way more, but CSGO esport highs are way higher than Valorant's. Also events, production, casters, crowd(unfair) are way better in CSGO. I think a lot of it just comes down to which scene you follow more. I currently follow Valorant really closely so I find it better in average, but if it wasn't for that CSGO would easily take the crown IMO. CSGO has more legendary players, but Valorant maybe funnier to follow because its newer and the scene is constantly changing. That is why I watch bunch of Valorant games even if I don't care about the stakes or teams, while in CSGO I don't really watch unless its hype matchup.

And I personally like playing CSGO way more, Valorant is fine at times but not so fun most of time. I'm also worse at Valorant for some reason. And I don't know what you mean with "low player base"? Maybe it isn't crazy popular outside of EU, but its far from low player base.

I think its just that CSGO is a lot older and therefore the game is a lot more refined. I would rather watch valorant now (in its first 2 years), than csgo in its first 2 or 3 years.

when i watch valorant it just doesnt seem as immersive because of the slow pace, also because cs is more difficult mechanically i can appreciate the highlights and crazy aimers so much more

I watch and play valorant more but, rito's production quality is the absolute worst so i wouldn't blame anybody for looking away out of frustration.
