franchising

If a team who wont likely make partnership wins champions (XSET(?), Acend, Guild(?) )

will riot change their mind? will they not make it in? It seems weird to do franchising now as VCT is going on

franchising is for 2023 no worries

The script is already finished

no because franchising is about the org, not performances.

if an org wins champs and gets a huge fanbase as a result, then it is about the org again

Then that team would be sold to a better org

I said if the org gets a huge fanbase, not necessarily the roster, it remains a possibility

Do you think a team with a bad fanbase right now will suddenly have a huge one because they win champs? Acend won last year, and all reports say they aren't making it. Reason org like SEN went from irrelevant to huge is because all their players are also content creators, and they have TenZ. Winning Iceland helped but wasn't the main reason.

it could perfectly happen, acend played their cars wrong. And if you think sentinels is relevant because of the players then why not just get a richer org like version1, the guard or shopify rebellion and make them sell tenz and co. to them?

None of that made sense but aigh bet

then they are fans of the players, not the org

franchizing dosent depend on the teams placements it depends on the content the fame of the orgs or something like but im not sure so...

They knew about franchising since last year. For players that still compete in VCT but their orgs have low chances to make into franchising, they still need to try hard for prize money (Champs will have big prize pool), and if they play well, they will get signed by franchised orgs next year

Another team will most likely pick em up

SORTA happened in LCS, Immortals at the time who went to worlds was 2nd seed. They didn't make franchising and eventually bought Optic's LCS spot to get back in to the LCS 2 years later for 13 million

Yea but since its partnership and not Franchising, Riot can kick teams if they just try to get viewership while not investing the scene and not helping the players

IIRC nopopular esport has implemented this.

LoL and OWL are a franchising league meaning teams must buy a slot for millions but they own the rights to that slot. They can in time sell that slot for even more money to another org.

Valorant is using a partnership program meaning orgs are paid by riot to invest into valorant. Due to this the orgs do not own those slots they can only be kicked out or leave the league but cannot sell it

ok ty

yea, in the LCS the teams actually owned their slot like in a real franchised league so optic decided to sell their spot when they decided to leave

According to leaks they don't even consider Acend who are current WCs, so I don't think any team winning Worlds would change their mind if they're not thinking about including them in the first place.

If anything Acend literally proves not to look at past performances. Champions in 2021 and unlikely to feature at all in the 2022 season. So recent performances aren't a reliable thing to choose on, but other stuff in the organization is

So what, we let Acend cause they win champs, and then they choke meet year and what? Don’t have money to make another roster or a big fanbase cause they are not winning anymore and they don’t have the loyalty. Congrats you have a team with no fanbase at the bottom of the leaderboard for four years straight
