Its just insane how good they actually were in 2023. 3 losses the whole season is just insane. (TL, LOUD, LOUD) LOUD genuinely were FNC's kryptonite. I will always argue if FNC faced EG/PRX instead of LOUD, they wouldve won champs.

should've been LOUD, TL, LOUD, LOUD

FNC would lose to PRX and EG at Champs

EG Demon1 didnt practice with the team at Tokyo and PRX something (Pacific MVP) was not there, both because of VISA issues

Idk why you got downvoted because I agree with this lol all of their games against EG in Tokyo was very close even if it was a 3-0. And I think if LOUD didn't choke then they wouldn't have the confidence that they had coming into Tokyo. That comeback gave them a confidence boost which we all know can play a huge part in this game

FNC 2023 is the most overrated team in the history of this game

If you say anything thats not glazing them, the brainwashed masses go like: 😠😡🤬8===✊🏼=D💦

In a champs stream this year Zikz himself said that Fnatic was a terrible matchup for them and that they managed to win Champs without having to beat the best and were very happy that Loud took them out.
So their own coach was still scared of that matchup but sure lets believe some randoms.
Matchup wise i just don't see Fnatic losing v EG or Prx especially not in a BO5. Fnatic got more Fracture bans than EG at champs something not a lot people remember but Fnatic had picked up the Sova and looked even better than EG on that map.

nah this is the problem with FNC 23 run the amount of question marks it had FNC 23 was the best team itw no doubt about it but during tokyo both of the 2nd and 3rd placed team(otherwise known as there only competition for the trophy) had roster issues

Demon1 up until basically day of the tourney when EG fully wasted all there prep with a sub

prx hard cgrs(gekko one trick before he was actually good) for the whole tourney cause T2 japan player smth didnt get a visa somehow
and lock in ofc

I mean thats slightly wrong. He done an interview once they beat LOUD in the playoffs. And it says he had 3 days of practice before the event started, also they practiced throughout the tournament aswell. https://esports.gg/news/valorant/eg-demon1-track-vct-tokyo-masters-2023/

PRX if they had something would've probably beat EG 3-2 in Tokyo, but FNC dismantled EG 3-0 in the grand final its hard to argue PRX with something would've beaten them.

In champs PRX played 6 games. 5/6 had pearl (FNC's perm ban) basically it was like EG's fracture. They were purely winning because teams didn't ban it against them lol. in a bo3 & bo5 I think FNC wins against them. Now EG is much harder, because FNC wouldnt ban their fracture so it'd basically be 1 map down.

edit: to add on, LOUD were basically FNC but brazilian. They had pretty much the same map pool, it mainly came down to who anti'd who or who out aimed who on the day. with LOUD going out "early" in Tokyo, they didnt show much so it was kinda hard to analyse their gameplay & come up with an anti especially when you have prime aspas & less on the team with prime saadhak igling. So their first encounter LOUD beat them 2-0, in their second encounter imo I think mini & boaster probably prepped tf out of their bind and hoped LOUD picked it, because DRX destroyed them 13-1 on it the game before and they floated it, but LOUD ended up banning it, so they played Haven which I assume LOUD prepped heavily for. (as it was FNC's best map atm iirc)

those 3 days are 1 jet lagged 1 scrambling to fill in demon1 on everything 1 day not exerting yourself fully before a match even with practicing throughout the tourney that isn't nearly enough to do anything at all which was pretty clear with the boostio reyna

PRX has a much better match up into FNC play style wise while imo with something in his best form i agree its hard to argue but it is a question mark 100% that is bare minimum a 10% better chance to win that game which is alot

and the biggest issue how fatigued FNC were and would've been by then being the biggest issue and main thing that probably stops them from winning especially with PRX also beating loud that very champs with loud at there best just after beating FNC 2-0 you can make a very similar case for prx at champs against loud as you did for prx at tokyo especially with loud winning that match up twice

i feel like they couldve won a bo5 if they stretch out long enough which they for sure could cause they had double map ban and could easily have pearl in that pool and the bo3 they would've had FNC was in pretty terrible form so i doubt they get double ban

mini is confident they would've beaten eg on fracture with their prep for champs. Loud single handedly threw them out of the tournament sadly lol

Well its obvious. Noone every even came remotely close. Even G2 flopped hard in the biggest matches depite their strong winrate.

The loud lost in lock in was the greatest choke in the history of this game + loud proved that in champions destroying fnc 2 times

Both teams just sucked on defense. If fnatic started on attack, you wouldn't be calling this a choke

Most overrated team oat. In tokyo they played an EG with demon1 who had visa issues, PRX didn't even have something, loud had internal issues. In champs 2023 what do you know they placed in their rightful spot at 4th once all these issues were resolved. Even if they got past Loud they aren't beating an EG who looked way better than their tokyo form, or PRX with something.

#13

this visa issue narrative is way too overblown

#14

They came in 4th in champs as they should because against any of the top 3 with no problems they would've lost. Their "dominance" was due to outside circumstances and issues and because of that they are objectively overrated.

One of my favorite teams of all time but masters Reykjavik is not equal to Copenhagen because fpx wasn't there. However I don't think they are overrated to the same degree because champs finals was legit the same two teams as Reykjavik (Optic/Loud)

#19

So optic's run isn't a fluke even though the team that missed the event literally won the next one(with suygetsu missing half the event btw) while fnatic was also missing their 2 best players

But demon1 missing a few scrims and prx missing one player makes fnatic's whole run a fluke? Especially when they won the prior tournament?

not 2nd, not 3rd, they placed 4th. they placed 4th by losing to the 3rd place team twice. let it go bro. EG in particular would’ve buttfucked them

Agreed, EG and PRX were at full power and got better compared to tokyo, When people say they would've beaten EG/PRX guaranteed I just think they didn't pay attention to champs at all. Fnatic stayed stagnant and there were glaring weakness when they got 13-1'd by DRX but yeah "they would've beaten EG/PRX for sure bro"

Matchups matter
Prx style gets completely countered by Fnatic as we saw in Tokyo (Prx still almost made grand finals but got their ass blasted by Fnatic and one Something would not have changed much).
Zikz said they were happy that Loud took Fnatic out and considered Fnatic to be their worst matchup.

both eg and prx improved at champions & fnatic didn’t, simple as that

you forget to mention that all of the teams had their eyes on them, fnatic didn’t have any time to innovate any new strategies because why would they have to if what they did all year was working + playing so much matches in a year tired them out. that’s just how competition goes. fnatic would have probably not beaten eg or prx given how much those teams improved (eg literally won champs playing their signature fracture once)

Its pretty hard to improve when you had only lost once the entire season at the time yeah. And FNC did technically "improve" just wasnt good enough (lost ascent then won it), they took a gamble against LOUD floating bind probably hoping they'd pick it.

Saying Something "would not have changed much" might be the craziest and dumbest take of oat.

Zikz said they were happy that Loud took Fnatic out and considered Fnatic to be their worst matchup.

I agree but how does this translate to Fnatic would've for sure beat EG especially when EG got better and Fnatic stayed stagnant?

I don't understand how anyone can say with certainty that Fnatic would've beat EG/PRX when nothing is guaranteed in this game, it makes no sense.

#47

But you guys are also guaranteeing that they would've lost???
It's not black or white we'll just never know.
All i know is that EG still saw Fnatic as their worst matchup and were happy that they didn't have to face them and that Prx did not like playing v the EU style of play.
So those are my facts nothing else.

#48

Well no, I don't think it wouldve been a guaranteed loss. I just think that EG and PRX were the better teams at champs and they are more likely to win because of that.

The one time PRX dont play pearl they lost thats all im saying, FNC would've banned it against them in a bo3 and would've beat them. FNC's map pool was just better. EG would be the only team other than LOUD that couldve beat FNC, even then if FNC played against EG in upper finals I think it would still be 50/50.

disagree. fnc only has three losses because 1) everyone in EMEA was dogshit 2) TL loss was one of the only actual flukes in the history of the game 3) they had a easy as fuck lock in bracket (three bottom-half americas teams into NAVI who was the only non-champs top 4 difficult team they faced in the year) 4) they only faced three teams on tokyo (declining NRG into downgraded PRX/EG) 5) their champs run also wasn't really difficult

You're acting like FNC were only winning in OT's? They were literally destroying these teams. (They 12-0d PRX on Lotus??) They only lost 2 maps all of Lock//in & 1 map in all of Tokyo. You just cant argue that LOUD weren't obviously a good counter for FNC. They were the only team to beat them twice, and the only team to win a bo3 against them.

Their champ run wasnt easy either? They played BLG who beat NRG twice, they played LOUD twice, they played DRX who beat LOUD & NAVI. Compared to the others its not "easy" its roughly the same. PRX they for sure would've beaten. EG's the only other team you can argue FNC could lose to.
