can’t you be undefeated on maps 1 2 and 3 and still lose if they ban 1 you pick 2 they ban 3 and then you lose 1-2

EDG didnt even have a bad bind/icebox, they just werent number 1 at those maps.
EDG legit had 2 bad maps. Ascent/Haven (which a majority of teams who went to champs also had bad ascent/haven)
You would need to ban both sunset/lotus, then ALSO be a better bind and icebox team than EDG, while also happy playing haven first map. Which no team at champs had.
We can actually see a veto where all of EDG's bad maps got chosen (not a single 100% map)

okay real reason: meta fit them perfectly, team got surprise by the way they play, s1mon was goated
realistically edg were just ahead of the meta in 2024, they had the insta agro reclearing of information down before anyone else, and that carried them, edg was probably the best agro defense team itw at the time and that played into the strengths of china even now (they suck at defensive scenarios) combine that with a white hot kankkang and everyone in form in a meta that suited them it makes sense
That's the worst thing about current edg man. Somehow they forgot everything about their defense gameplan back in 2024 or even 2023. They used to be so proactive which would be perfect for this meta.
maybe the event was rigged by Riot games because they wanted valorant to grow more in China aka the biggest market
so they schedule EDG matches in a manner that they will have to play Team Heretics (the G2/NiKo of valorant) in grand finals
EDG winning champs 2024 boosted the game alot in China that's what Riot wanted in the end
There are many companies in the world who rigged results or give skins intentionally to popularise the game in that particular country.
EDG didn't win against any notable good team after champs 2024 and their masters london top3 run was full of wins against Chinese teams and only FUT esports
