I don't understand this "free zekken" narrative

Everyone talks about Aspas, saying Zekken should be the one playing entry duelist But didn't he come to MIBR to be a flex player?

At the start of the year, we didn't even know the double-duelist meta would be so strong; he joined MIBR to be a flex player who would play smokes on most maps and pair up with Aspas as a second duelist on others.

But in reality, we found out he's a shitty flex player who only knows how to play entry duelist. So, what did they want Aspas to do? Stop playing his role for a player who joined to be a flex but is a shitty flex so that guy could play Aspas's role? But who’s to say Aspas isn't a shitty flex/phoenix?

In fact, this year since 2023 was the one where Aspas played more for the team than the team played for him. And he handled the role well; his only bad performance was at Kickoff, and he faced several issues during that event, including a health problem.

Aspas isn't innocent because he played a huge role in building the team, but Zekken is just as much to blame he joined to be a flex player but in reality he's a shitty flex.

yes, they wanted to win trophies and they didnt win anything in 2025 (and 2026 now too lmao)

the org also got a huge investment so they wanted to go all in with an expensive roster and try to win, keeping only aspas+verno

There are also rumors that the players (artzin, cortezia, xenom) would talk about the team problems to their families and their families would go on social media to talk about internal issues publicly

Aspas is still friends with all of them and was also playing duos with artzin a few weeks ago. All of them still glaze Aspas nonstop, thats not something you would do for a "dictator" that fucked you up

Mibr failed to use zekken right lol . zekken should never be a controller player his best two roles is init/ hard entry duelist. Not shit like Phoenix and omen . And the thing is trashpas was not even good on entry so it made no sense not to put zekken on it.

Aspiss the dictator has been controlling this team to what he wants and he failed. This loser needs to get fired for making this roster and failing

I get it, so he joined MIBR because he wanted to, knowing full well he’d be the team's flex player. But then everyone realized the issue with that: as a flex player, what do you want him to do steal the role from Aspas, who is the best duelist in the game's history, or take the spot of verno one of the most talented initiators in the game history too?

the thing is mibr should’ve known what he was when picking him up . And they didn’t , anyways it’s not like aspiss did amazing on the entry role so they could’ve tried for zekken entry and aspiss 2nd to make roles my comfort

Zekken had never been tested on Phoenix or Smoke, so there was no way to know he was bad at it; given the player he is and the narrative of TenZ moving from Duelist to Smoke everyone assumed he would be just as good as TenZ in the Smoke role.

They probably tested Aspas as the second fragger and duelist and zekken as the entry, and it likely didn't work out because Aspas is a shitty Phoenix player though that’s more on Zekken than Aspas, since Zekken was the one who came in to play the flex role.

Part of the issue is that aspas is not playing entry duelist in the way that an entry duelist is expected to play in 2026, while zekken is capable of that

if aspas plays chamber they top 3 an international btw

Do you think they didn't test this in practice? Aspas is probably bad at Chamber and Phoenix. But is that his fault? He's the team's main duelist; it's not his obligation to play well on Chamber or Phoenix good bro thats my point

if he's the primary duelist why would he sign the second best primary duelist in the team
and if it doesn't work just try the chamber, at least once, play it against shitters, play it against SEN or smth

You’re getting flak, but what you said was right.

The theory craft around Zekken was that he would be a great flex.

The reality was he’s only great as a duelist.

Aspas is best in a single duelist system that plays around him. He is arguably the best player in the world in a system that revolves around him.

Also, the team wasn’t actually that “super” mazino and Tex are bottom of the barrel t1 talent.

What you ended up with was a middle of the field team with 2 superstars in a system that didn’t play to their strengths.

I will admit that Zekken has been disappointing. He isn’t a flexible player, and he isn’t someone who can take over games. He’s a great system duelist and this year has definitely hurt his value.

Fr man, Zekken is a insane entry duelist and maybe a elite initiator too but hes joined fucking mibr who have the goat duelist and one of the most talented initiator ever. And when he joined mibr he probably know thag and know that hes playing probably smoke/2initiator/2duelist

MIBR head coach fRoD stated that putting zekken on smoke/controller roles during the Kickoff event was an experiment due to limited practice time, and mocked other coaches who tried to do so while vowing "I'm never putting zekken on controller again"

And then he did for the rest of the season

That shit is still funny considering he put him on omen again in that one playoff game

You know that was just an excuse; back when he was signed, no one knew the double duelist meta would be so strong. Zekken joined MIBR knowing he’d be the flex player likely playing smokes or double-initiator, and duelist on certain maps.
