CS vs Valorant Pros

A genuine question:
How do CS pros manage a longer career as compared to Valorant pros on Average? I know the Valorant scene isn't that old, the game is relatively 'new' when compared to CS, but the average age of the pros in Valorant is a lot lower than that of Counter Strike.

For example, Boaster at 30 is about to retire after this year. Yay is 27 and doesn't have a team and nobody is really looking into investing into him at this age, whereas Falcons in Counter Strike just picked up a 36 year old Karrigan. Fallen retired after 20 years of professional play. And there's a lot of examples of players over the age of 30 still playing tier 1 at the Top level in Counter strike, e.g. Apex.

I know the 'game's been out for longer and history' point, that's fair, but Valorant pros seem to retire much sooner than Counter Strike pros (TenZ, Sacy, etc.). Why is that?

more 17 year old talent, why pick up 27 year old yay when you can get some turkish kid

Same goes in Counter Strike too, for example, nocries is a great talent that's playing as a stand-in with BC Game as a young kid that found some fame with cheating accusations.
He isn't getting picked as a full-time player. Meanwhile Niko is still playing on Falcons, Apex in Vitality, S1mple in BC game (ik BC game is like tier 3)

Because in CS, the younger talents are seen as inexperienced. The most winning teams in CS are all very experienced, but in Val, an inexperienced team can still win (Nongshim).

cs meta changes at snail pace compared to valorant

which allows for the best competition possible and a way higher skill ceiling is required when it comes to mechanics.

best competition possible, yes, but i think the skill ceiling isn't higher. atleast aim-wise. cs players probably remember nine times more lineups

val meta changes
cs doesnt really

What about league then? Main reason is just that val is too young. Tbh the meta changes in val does seem to have lot more effect than in league and also there is generally more competition overall in val esports. In league the talent pool outside lck for other regions is also kinda dead atp.

super easy
CS is more competitive more tournas/more money thats what players would want
VAL pros are burnout from playing scrims 8hours a day just for val to patch every act. also the lack of tournaments.

yeah fair point
Money can be an issue when streaming pays more and is much much easier

Lack of tournaments

Cs pros play hundreds of officials every year while in val your whole year depends on 15 group stage games

Yeah valorant needs some new tier 1 tournaments or leagues like CS. Fair point

cause cs doesn't change a lot. like it's been you see and shoot type of game since the beginning.
valorant however changes so fast that it's hard to stay relevant as a player or team, maybe that's the reason?

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. But still, if you're playing at the top level for many years, you're kind of used to the changes and adjusting no?

not really. there's a reason we never saw astralis level consistency. vlose we got fnatic winning two trophies in a row and that's it. most of the winning team get a hit right after winning cz of meta changes. same goes for players, moments after nerf of a meta agent most of the top performers on that agent struggle a lot

I mean its a combination of 3 things
1) Funding is hard(27 may change that), so signing old known talent is difficult as you make a big gamble compared to a young kid who's relatively cheap cuz they're unproven
2) The meta shakeups. You get new agents, new maps, and balance changes alongside them that change up the way the game plays that makes it very hard to adapt
3) Too few tournaments. You have 3 chances to make a name for yourself, and to fight for it you need to get past grindingly long regionals+a whole other grind at the internationals. Its obviously a big burden to place on teams, causing stress and burnout.

Fair point on 1. But If you're an ORG, and you're trying to get some wins and stay relevant, you're definitely signing the more known pros no? For example, Falcons has Niko still playing because of the fans even though there's better options out there potentially.
In Valorant even, instead of someone new, ORGs do have the option to get a player that's proven themselves in internationals at least. For example Victor is orgless, Demon1 is barely on a team (bunch of ranked guys that made it to tier 1 because aim and gamesense), and there's other examples too.

Adapting to the meta is also a point that a lot of people say and I somewhat agree with, but still I mean if you're playing top level Valorant for multiple seasons, you're used to the meta changes?

The tournament point is fair I agree.

There are more events, teams, etc which allows for this kind of thing. Also there is a larger tactical side of CS compared to the gunskill aspect.

Yeah Valorant has lesser events and too much competition for too few spots on teams, that's fair.

Also Val is a child game. After 22 you are too old to play Val.

Come to CS. It's better for us old folks here. Karrigan is 36 y/o

I think a new player cant pick up the mechanics of CS that fast. I'm Diamond 2 peak In valorant, but in CS i feel like im a bronze at best
